Dryer method for the win..All we need is another house fire.
Rub snowseal on gloves/insert in warm oven/pull out when snowseal melts.Wipe off and drink a beer.Check off one more thing on the list.

Well it's been two years so here's a duplicate question.
Anybody know of stores in SLC that carry Kinco besides IFA? I've been there and they have pretty much every model but the 901's which are what I'm looking for.

My technique is slightly different than those posted. I have had good success with the seal lasting the life of the glove.

1) Turn on the oven to 250
2) Put gloves on, apply snoseal with "handwashing technique"
3) stick in oven for 5 min (over tin foil)
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until leather is saturated and dark
5) stick gloves in oven, turn off heat, forget about the gloves for a while
6) remove gloves when oven has cooled.

The gloves come out "baked", kinda crispy rather than waxy and soft. When they are waxy and soft, not fully baked, they tend to loose waterproofness with use. My technique seems to keep the waterproofness longer

I do this with my new work gloves even if I'm not putting snoseal/hestra balm, etc. on it. Heat em up and it softens them to form to your hand better. f you don't, they just feel stiff and shit. Just put em on and hold them in front of the torpedo heater and make fists a few times. Boom!

I agree to just warm them up when you're applying balm tho... Just to warm em up, not cook it in. Especially with Kincos, because you can melt the water barrier.

bump because these people are awesome. I called up and they let me com try some on and just purchase them there. They carry pretty much every glove kinco makes. I also bought a pair of these:
because they have a waterproof liner and a little neon flair.

thats what I figured so when I tried this last night I put the slathered up gloves inside a reusable food shopping bag and tied the openning shut to keep the wax off the inside of the drum ... the dryer method works well

I used to use snoseal but tried mink oil on my current pair last season. It didn't seem to last as long but they were dexterous as fuck. Anyone else use mink oil?

This is fucking crazy. If you can't figure out how to snow seal your gloves with out posting stupid questions than you should go spend lots of money on fancy gore Tex gloves.

I did about a dozen pairs of various gloves and mittens last weekend, and this worked well:

Heat oven to 190
Put tin foil on upper rack
Heat gloves for 2 minutes
"Hand-wash" glob of Sno-seal into gloves
Put back in oven for 2 minutes
Repeat 3,4,5
Cool

If you do it correctly.... as in above... it will last the gloves life, which is a long time...

Yep... Mine don't come out crispy - more with just a little "tack" to them, like football receiver gloves.

I re-treat mine every few years, or if I notice the leather looking "wet" on a regular basis. I'm guessing your method with higher temp and longer cook time must be a bit more effective. I'll try that next time. Just don't want to melt stuff, as some have lining and other shell material I worry about getting heat damaged.

To help with SEO and searches here for us Bozeman Mags ... I picked up a pair of 1927KWs at Rocky Mountain Supply in Belgrade. All of the dealers that Kinco listed were either closed or didn't carry them.

And for another data point; to cook them I heated them up to about 160 degrees, slathered on the SnoSeal, rebaked for about 6-8 minutes and did that about three times. Worked like a charm.

I prefer the friction method... type xhamster.com into your browser, put on both gloves and voile, a nice patina appears. Before you ask: I prefer to alternate hands in between "sessions."

I prefer the Flylow/Kinco style gloves to almost everything else I have these days, at least until it gets REALLY cold, at which point, it's my Wells Lamont shearling-lined Choppers w/ragg wool inserts.

I get the whole cost thing, trust me. But how much is your sweet goretex shell jacket? $350? Your new Duke EPF's? $495? Skis? $1,000? Goggles? $200?
It just seems weird to then go and swear by hardware store quality work gloves that get wet and aren't even that warm. Do you buy your jacket at WalMart too? No? Me neither.
If you are a patroller, liftie, or a race course setter, yeah, you better have some work gloves!

Joking aside... I love kincos gloves and have a couple pairs myself. I just like to poke fun at the whole bro-brah thing. We've all seen that poser dude with the top of line everything and $23 kinco's gloves... that are brand new.
