Please help me with my Nikon LX-2000 film scanner

I acquired one of these things for (what I thought to be) a good deal. So far, I've had to buy two separate converters to convert from 50-pin SCSI to 25-pin SCSI to USB 2.0. Now, I'm having issues getting drivers (read: Windows Vista won't read it) for the damned thing.

Please help. Shoot me a pm if you've worked with these things, before. Your help would be much appreciated.

Is it actually an LS-2000? Because those came out back in 1998. That's a long time ago in computer years.

Unfortunately it looks like it's not the adaptors.

Yeah, it's the LS-2000... I learned (after buying it) that it was a dinosaur. Even still, I've heard/read that these are supposed to be really nice. I wonder if I could just take it to work and try it on Windows XP... ???

Thanks for the link, by the way. That's what I was afraid of.

Might try Windows 7 as well. I believe at least one Coolscan works under 7 but not Vista

Unfortunately Windows 7 is also a no go.

OK, go to http://www.hamrick.com/, and download Vuescan.

Takes a bit of getting used to, but will operate almost any scanner out there, from almost any operating system. When nothing else works, or the original scanner software is garbage, this is what I use.

You can try if for free, with watermarks, and can pay if it does what you need.

Dunno about USB-to-SCSI. Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a SCSI controller card, unless you are trying to go from a laptop? I do know Firewire-to-SCSI has been done before to appease the Apple crowd.

Don't know about Vuescan, but Silverfast (the other software with legacy support for lots of older scanners) says it works with the LS-2000 but only using SCSI, so maybe installing a SCSI card is the best hope.

For sure check out Vuescan first, since there is a free demo. But if Windows won't even recognize the scanner then doesn't that need to be addressed with a driver or something?
