why not? The early/late season boundary is about as 100% open as you can get!
On a side note, how fucking stupid are the people in charge at W/B? Since Crackside is closed, everyone will go to Blackcomb. Why would they not run every lift available on Blackcomb to accommodate the influx? Are they seriously thinking that nobody is going to show up to ski? If there is a powder day, everyone in the world is going to show up regardless of what they're panning. If you ask me, most senior managera at W/B deserve to lose their job when Intrawest goes up on the chopping block.

Lack of snow at grouse/cypress probably boosts the whistler numbers too, which perhaps they didn't account for

Cypress is not totally fuct. The Halfpipe has tons of snow and will be fine, same with the boarder cross. Right now, The boardercross its pretty sic looking. the moguls and ariels are in need of snow for the finish lines. Snow is being farmed from the none olympic side by pushing it down with cats then loading it into trucks and dumping it on the oly side. the snow is then winched it up the moguls/ariels run.
I will post pics of the build out once I switch computersLast edited by Snow Ranger; 01-27-2010 at 02:43 AM.

Cypress can suck it.
Anybody else notice how good its been lately?
I hate it when nobody shows up, its blue, and there is 6cm skiing more like 16cm. Just a terrible time.

Looks like they are going to be moving some snow around:
VANOC to provide media update on Cypress Mountain venue preparations: Thursday, January 28
VANCOUVER, Jan. 26 /CNW/ - The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) will hold a media briefing on Thursday, January 28 to update on the ongoing snow harvesting and overall venue preparations at Cypress Mountain, home of freestyle skiing and snowboard competitions during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
On January 13, VANOC and Cypress Mountain management agreed to close the ski resort's alpine runs to the public in order to undertake the significant preparation required to ready the mountain for Olympic competition, especially in light of the unseasonably warm and wet weather.
The media briefing will be held at VANOC headquarters, see below for additional details. At this time, it is not possible to access the venue as it is closed for Games-time preparations.
Current plans for the briefing include the provision of recent still photos and video to the media. As Cypress is an official Olympic venue, the International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s "Television News Access Rules Applicable to Non-rights holding Broadcast Organizations at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games" is in effect. These rules are attached for review in advance of the media briefing and will also be provided in hard copy on Thursday.
Today, British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell and VANOC CEO John Furlong viewed the venue and ongoing round the clock preparations for the Games during a helicopter tour.
"It's impressive to see how hard the venue team is working at Cypress Mountain to ensure the world's best winter athletes have great courses to compete on. They're experts in their field and are putting everything they have into this. I know they'll do us proud when the Games open in just 17 days," said Campbell after the venue tour. "We also saw impressive amounts of snow at the higher elevations, which the team is carefully moving into place, always conscious of the balance between weather and the time needed to prepare for the arrival of the athletes. It's all coming together nicely, despite the recent temperate conditions."

So here is one of the half pipe being built it looks like there is plenty of snow

I skied cakehole today.....just a word of warning...dont go past the kybers bootpack!
Got arrested by the Canadian Army, escorted 4kms at gunpoint (bitches wouldnt give us a tow and just followed us on their sleds) to a engineering camp. They then made us wear sweet helmets and transported us in an amphibious vehicle with 2 more (4 total) sled escorts and 2 armed guards inside with us. At the bottom we were turned over the the RCMP for more questioning... Entire day out the window... we never crossed anything that said closed or made any indication of this closure..
Most likely others know of this already, but just putting the word out from personal experience. And they said whistler's function wouldnt be impacted by the games
