Hash Running, anyone?
Anyone ever partake in a hash run (see link below for explanation)? Is it as much fun as it sounds?

I'd heard of this fringe, umm, sport a while back and somehow it crept back into my mind while I was being dickish in the marathon thread. Anyway, I like running and I like drinking so I think it's high time I combined the two. Are any NYC area mags into it?
Frankly, this sounds like a fairly maggoty activity and I'll be fairly disappointed in you people if no one's got any experience. If you've never seen an elephant ski, you've never been on acid.

2X - Santa Cruz de Bolivia while visiting an expat friend.
Run a few miles, chug a beer, talk, run a few more miles, drink more beers, jump in swimming pool, party.

I hashed a few times when I was the Atsugi base in Japan. Fun times.
I imagine hashing in NYC would be downright interesting. The cast of characters is surely colorful. Seeing neighborhoods that you wouldn't otherwise is almost certain. Check it out.

I ran with H3 in Santa Barbara once and I'm planning on going out with the DC chapter occasionally, though I've been spending more time swimming and night biking lately.
EDIT: It's pretty fun. Give it a whirl.

hash runs are kind of fun , the prize does not always go to the fleet of foot
I dunno if the world is a safe enough place for a hash run anymore ,I actualy read about a hash run in Vancover going wrong when they called out the cops/firedept/hazmat ... white powder scattered hither & yon must be some kind of virus left by terrorists or crazies eh?

This sounds like fun. Definitely going to check it out. Anybody done it in DC recently?
Man, skiing is the easy part.

They had a group of like 1,100 here in Winter Park about a month ago. One floor of a hotel was ok'd for the nudists, bars set up all sorts of crazy specials.

I've done one in New Haven with NH4. Good times. White Dress Run next weekend for Halloween in New Haven that I'm considering doing. They're fun, but its definitely not a race if that's what you're looking for.

so let me see if i got this right...
a bunch of people get together and run in honor of some elitist Raj officers who used to get together and run in the hot Indian sun to purge their IPA and single malt hangovers?

daywalker needs to chime in this thread and tell his hash story.
nyc harriers are some FAST mofos. they used to enter a bunch of the central park races i would do and SCHOOL people from my "hardcore" tri club all the time.
i've looked into the SF harriers though am way too slow to consider it at this point, they seem like a fun group

Pace, procedure and customs vary from H3 club to club. I've run a few with 3 different H3 groups, and they were all at a relatively relaxed pace, i.e., 9 minute miles for the back-of-the-packers.
