Words and phrases you can't say around your dog...

...or they will flip the fuck out:

    squirrel
    run
    play
    park
    walk
    swim
    leash
    Hannah (parents dog)
    Gracie (neighbor dog)
    Tucker (neighbor dog)
    Zola (friend's dog)
Where are we? (I used to say this when we got close to the park)
    Who's that?
    Who's here?
    Wanna go....(followed by anything)
    Mama
    Vet
    lake
    bunny
    ball

And a smattering of these when we actually spell them.

We've been taking care of my in-laws papillons for the past three weeks while they've been in Turkey; I can't wait to say G-T-F-O tomorrow.

It won't mean anything to their rat dogs, but it will definitely make my tail wag.

we can't say "dog park". The whining, wimpering, running in circles, never stops until they are in the car. We tried saying "DP" but they wised up to that pretty quick. Dog's can be smart when they want to.

one of my old dogs learned all the synonyms for walk and their spelling. We resorted to completely unrelated terms and hand motions with the dog out of the room.

go, walk, car, ride, treat and other words associated with treats, outside. Any of those and my dog goes from being a motionless, lumpy rug on the floor to phillip the hyper hypo.

    dinner
    feed the dogs
    walk
    squirrel
    rabbit

but we don't need any of those words for the dogs to go nuts at a moment's notice. they just happen to do it whenever they please.

    Everything else is OK.

This one is big in my house. We don't even have to say the word, spell it out, or imply it. They could be down the street at one of the neighbors house, we lightly and slowly open a thing of string cheese, and next you know the dogs have knocked down the front door and will snag it out of your hand. Think of a word and my dogs would react to it in some way.

    Mommy
    Daddy
Food and any thing the implies it in the least
    baby
    toy
    run
    walk
    etc, etc, etc, etc..........

Ball, frisbee, toy, and kill. I have always used "where's your frisbe/ball?" to get him to go get the said toy, now all I have to say is where, and he starts looking around for something to play fetch with.

Thats really about it. It's not that he doesn't know what other words mean, its just that he really doesn't care about a whole lot else in life. He knows plenty of other commands, but he really just wants to chase things, that's about it.

I use kill as a pretty universal command. He knows the different meanings depending on the tone of voice I use.
