considering to try NTN.... what boot, what spring?

never tried tele, but intrigued by NTN boots for either dynafit/AT and tele... the bellow looks interesting for skinning, and the scarpas loook light.
So what would you suggest for an old fart like me (180x80, relaxed skier)?
    blue or red spring?
3-buckle terminator NTN or 4-buckle terminator pro?

I'm about your height and weight, and find the red springs at at lower preload (about 2 on the 1-5 scale) works better. A more linear resistance feel (ie. doesn't ramp up toward the end), and less chance of bottoming out.

The three buckle tx is light, soft and would make a good beginners boot.

I've been on the burly crispi evo for two seasons, but I'm considering the tx for a touring boot this season. I'm currently awaiting some real world user feedback on the garmont prophet before I decide.

    forgot to mention...
I'm considering only scarpa terminator NTN and Pro, 'cuz AFAIK they're the only NTN boots with dynafit inserts (totally crucial for me...)

Spring: both blue and red should work, with the TX pros soft bellow teleing is quite easy anyhow

Boots: TX pro, for sure. I haven't tried the 3-buckle, but the tx pro is a great boot, and way easier to flex than Crispi Evo. It's light and very comfortabel to tour with.
In addition; if you are going to use them for AT I definitively would want the pros increased height. It's not stiff anyhow, but at least it's stiffer and taller than the normal teminators.
I've tried my pros in Dukes mounted on squad pro 189....not funny, but I guess you could call it interesting:-)

    aha, good to know, thanks!
I just read the terminator pro had durability issues last winter, with some dudes able to broke 3 of them in 6 weeks (source: backcountry.com reviews). Is the 09-10 version now safe? any first hand, mabbe from south america or new zealand?

You really havent heard about all the broken Scarpas ?

my buddy broke a pair of scarpas in <20 turns ,I asked him how NTN felt but he didnt actualy get enough turns to give an opinion

So scarpa sent him a pair of the previous years ridiculously stiff orange scarpas and he broke those as well

but whatever happens scarpa stood behind the boot and shipped replacements real quick no questions

I had another bud order replacements by cel phone on the next ride up on the chair

V61, what size is your foot?

I'd recommend the TX-pro just because it will be the closest to a "regular" AT boot.
Putting the "core" in corporate, one turn at a time.
