My 9 year old is going to be in a 150 GS ski this season. Question is will his junior boot work with adult bindings or does he need a junior specific binding?

What size? Smaller sizes probably want a Junior binding

Pardon my ignorance, I am not an alpine skier and just buy gear for my daughter, but this sounds like important stuff I should know:

There are boots that are formally designated "junior boots" and bindings that are formally designated "junior bindings", and you need to match those? It's not just a function of whether the binding's DIN settings match what DIN the kid needs? If so, how do you identify whether something is a "junior boot" versus a small adult boot, or a "junior binding" versus an adult binding with a low DIN range? Do you just have to know?

^^ Boots ought to have either A or C stamped near the midsole mark. C DIN soles are narrower and thinner.

Langes I am familiar with are C - 21.5 and below, A - 22.5 and above. Other brands may have different change over.

And yes you need to match binding to boot unless you use something like a Salomon L7 or limited other options that can accommodate both - check with shop or binding manufacturer.

Look junior bindings are hit and miss - some of them labeled ‘Junior’ don’t even come setup for C boots and you have to get a replacement AFD. I didn’t figure that one out till kid #2. Kid #1 skied that setup dangerously wrong.

Anyone holding 175. or 18.5 boots with a high instep? Suggestions on what brands have a higher instead? My son has tall feet and is technica 16.5s are too tight on top of his foot, going to try with the insoles pulled while I am shopping.

FYI, Tyrolia's junior race bindings will fit junior and adult soles.

Also, 150 seems pretty long for a 9 year old. My (just turned) 11 year old is on 149s.

Probably depends on the size of the kid. Tho my 9 yo is on 135-138 and they all reach to his helmet brim while in ski boots. 150s would be huge on him. But some of his friends are giants, so, maybe those kids would want more length.

Not less than 80, but have 90 for shipping. I believe they were never ridden, but way over drilled. PM for more detail, but a solid ski if you can mount. Atomic Race #.

    SOLD

Feeler: Volkl Shiro Jr, 143cm with Look PX10 bindings.
Skis show the usual topsheet chipping, bases/edges are in good shape, no core shots or significant damage, two heel bindings screws dimpled the base, but don't appear to affect skiing. Bindings should adjust from approximately 295-315mm BSL and are the first mount.
Anyone interested? Not sure the pricing, $75 plus shipping? Higher-res pics available via text or email...

Long shot but looking for some 120ish twin tips, kid wants to start skiing backward.

Also have some 67 and 80 cm skis and small boots but I'm holding them for future nieces and nephews. If someone is in Wisconsin or the UP and could put them to use in the meantime I'm sure we could work something out in exchange for beers.
