Question Medical Maggots- good brands and places to buy scrubs?

since I know how stylish y'all are :P

Basic google search gives me about 5,000,000 places to buy scrubs online. Hoping not to make the same mistake as when I bought my stethoscope and sphygmomanometer (just picked random nursing supply website and got screwed with mega delay backorder snafu).

Can anyone narrow this down- what are you favorites?

    Thank you muchos
    C

If you have access to scrubs supplied by a hospital etc. then that’s the way to go... never do laundry ever again (for work).

I've always worn the pale blue surgical scrubs from the hospital. Let them do the laundry. For those that want something more stylish, our hospitals have vendors come in and you can order through them. My city also has a few medical supply stores that stock scrubs. Whatever you do, don't make the mistake of my medic school - make sure they have plenty of pockets, you will need them.

ooh, that sounds great, but i need em for volunteering at the trauma center, & as a measly volunteer, i won't have access to the "perks" yet (hopefully if all goes well, within a year i will have a job there!!)

hence i must acquire and launder on my own

    Dickies FTW!!!

    http://www.dickiesuniform.com/

(Never actually worn them, but purchased/replaced them off and on over the years...)

Most of the "scrubs" shops I've been in have lots of the "foo foo" patterned stuff, IMHO most of them made with cheap materials... (and I do have menswear experience from decades ago) Of course some carry the Dickies and other such in stock, but use the bricks and mortar to find yer size and get the first couple sets of basics, then fill in from online in sizes/styles you've already tried/own in other colors etc.

Check out the UCSF bookstore. Med school bookstores always have scrubs for sale, usually pretty cheap since they sell primarily to students rather than faculty.

How "technical" can scrubs really be. Buy some, use them, wash them, turn them into rags. Real equipment I get asking around, but scrubs???

It is like asking what type of smock (sp?) to buy your 1st grader.

This isn't about finding scrubs. I mean, if it was about that, she'd ask the people she rides around in the ambulance with all day.

I was always under the impression that it was Dad's old undershirts. Has a grave error taken place here?

negative- this is for volunteering in the ED at the hospital (which you would have known if you had read the thread, but hey, reading is hard!), different setting and completely different outfit than my work pants on the ambulance, which are basically the opposite of scrubs- thicker, more stain resistant, lots of pockets for trauma sheers, flashlight, o2 wrench, etc, flared to fit over big steel toed boots... sort of like the pants cops wear. i don't know much about scrubs (which is why i asked here) but as far as i can tell they are a lot more breathable, simple drawstring waist and don't have pockets.

ergo, i can't ask my coworkers cuz they don't wear scrubs!

but thanks for contributing. i'll be sure to help with feedback when you need to pick out your work outfit for the cruise ship.

I never would have guessed the ship's fluffer would need an official outfit.

The thrift store I hit all the time had some scrubs there that looked like they had never been worn. I've told medical related friends to go there for the hook-up. You'll save a ton, if that is an incentive...

You can find scrubs with pockets, you'll want them. You'll want a place to put trauma sheers, a roll of tape, and your stethoscope. I never like wearing mine around my neck in ER. It is prone to fall off or be grabbed by a patient. I would also keep a set of blood draw tubes and a few sterile NS flushes in my pockets.

I have seen medics carry a lot of unnecessary stuff in their pockets, but never heard of keeping your own o2 wrench. I'm doing good if I have a pen in my pocket by the end of a shift.
