NC Skiing
Anyone else have to suffer at Sugar Mountain, NC? This is a typical run. Notice the snowboarder at :14 seconds. Somehow I'm still looking forward to this.
1200' of blown ice. Sweet! At least Tom and Boulderdash are kind of steep. (Sigh) The February trip to Utah can't get here soon enough.

at LEAST you are out there skiing, right?
Our world is full of surrender at the first sign of adversity, do not give up when the challenge meets you, meet the challenge. Through perseverance comes the rewards, the rewards that make life so enjoyable.
Seize the day, trusting little in the future.
if you want something, go after it. if you want to screw someone over, look DEEP in your heart and realize Karma is a bitch

It's a good day when there's snow in the trees off the trail.

p.s. It is not always like that there. thats a vid from pres day or mlk more than likely. I never go there when its like that. terrible example of what its really like at sugar.Hamme one dem beers

Yeah, I think that might have been pres day or something. If you go during the week there really aren't that many people there. But weekends ARE usually like that. Especially if it's been cold and snowy. Unfortunately I can't really make it during the week anymore so that's what I have to deal with when I go.
Dude, that scraping noise is the sweet sound of southern powda!

Kinky,we call it loud powder. If your skiing that's all that matters.

In all fairness I have skiied something resembling powder at sugar before; at least it was somewhat soft and fluffy and you couldn't hear the scraping sound. I've also skiied trees at Wolf Laurel and Cataloochee, although by the time I got to it it definitely wasn't powder.
I've also heard that people have skiied down under the upper portion of the lift at sugar after a huge dump. Not sure I would do that. There's some pretty serious sharks under there. But if there were enough snow it would be the gnar gnar complete with small drops. Anyone else heard this?

You think that's bad? Largest ski "mountain" in NS is 800'. Can't complain, it's fun and all, but I can't help but long for more.

I've discovered it's pretty damn easy to poach night skiing at Cataloochee during the week. Just have a few tickets on your zipper, show up a little late, and act like you belong there. The teenagers loading chairs never check. It also helps that you can usually ski right up and get on the lift most times.
Definitely been a good year for boating.

You have to have tickets on your jacket?
Gotta make me some phone calls and my freebies worked up, haven't been too motivated yet this year. Normally I have a couple of season passes by now.I should probably change my username to IReallyDon'tTeleMuchAnymoreDave.

I've done it without tix on the jacket, but it seems a little sketchier that way. Maybe it's just in my head.
