    L to R:
186 Dynastar Big Trouble Limited - The best top ever
191 Scott P4 - I was going to get a pair back when they first came out(2002?), but decided to get something else, and that sent me down a rabbit hole of bad ski purchases. So I’m having a do-over

190 Elan Boomerang - My favourite pow ski. Probably the most underrated ski ever.

186 Blizzard Bodacious - They look rad and badass with red 916s.

193 Blizzard Scout - This setup is noticeably lighter than the shorter Bodacious. But still not very light.

189 4FRNT Turbo - Not the best ski at any one thing, but they will do the job under any conditions.

    Up top:

192 777 - My first “fat” ski. I love them.

189 AK Enemy - A buddy was getting rid of them(baby on the way), so I told him I would find them a good home.

    190 Boomerang - Spare

And then the semi-retired legends above the work bench:

    Shanetoon
    Spatula
    Huckster

I thought of your love of boomerangs when I saw a pair of 190s with red sth16's at the ski sale last week... I think they were $200.

Too much ski for me at my current fitness level so I passed.

What do you think of the Big Troubles? I have my eye on a cheap pair of 178s locally...

This thread has some amazing collections, I read back a few pages and powderoflavancher in Europe with the mega collection. Props to you my man, 205 AK rockets! It was like seeing a real live unicorn.

My working quiver this year is all HEAD.. not by design or any affiliation, I just like what they are making these days

What colour were the Booms? If they were the volcano ones, they probably were my first pair that I (stupidly)sold.
You’d be surprised how easy they are to ski. If you want to try a pair, I know a guy with two of them.

I haven’t had enough time on the BT to have a solid opinion beyond looks yet. I always seem to grab something else first. But I’m going to properly bend the brakes and ski them on groomers.

    Yup... they were volcanoes.

I had a set a few years back and sold them... I think you considered buying them but passed because you already had 2 pairs.

I'm also only running a 7 to 7.5 DIN these days after my knee surgery.

I may be completely wrong, but I think the V1 was the original set of protos that got made for Shane - only like 4-5 got made - and the V2 was the production run (both the ones made by Volant and the ones from the Atomic factory). Most, if not all, pairs that I’ve seen pics of say V2. Mine definitely do.

Yep, PlayItLeo's reply is aligned with what I remember about that topic. The "original" Volant construction was metal cap to the edges, like the Huckster in that same photo from Caucasian Asian. And the Spatula protos had that metal cap. But then Volant changed construction of all their skis to "V2" under the Atomic ownership, and "V2" was that red fiberglass cap near the edges (like that Spatula V2 in Caucasian Asian's photo). So, even Volant Machete FB was V2 construction, and its red fiberglass cap near the edges looks same as the cap of Atomic skis like Big Daddy, Sugar Daddy, etc.

Very curious to hear some first-hand thoughts on these. They as good in the steeps as advertised? The weights/lengths seem funny to me but maybe they're somehow goldilox...?

Full disclosure — was quasi-spansered by them for a season so ended up with a lot of free skis but... I found them a bit soft for my liking. I ended up getting rid of all the skis except the these simply because I really like the bases on mellow spring touring days!

Nothing super unique about their shapes but they are starting to gain a following in steamboat.

This was supposed to be a three ski quiver, but had a spare pair of wren114s - so mounted them too. Wrens are for raging, woods are for daily driver use. Very excited to try these skis. I expect these skis will see something like 90% resort use - where the majority of touring will be lift based slackcountry use, hence Cast.

To be used with Fischer RC4s w/alpine AFDs and Hawx XTD 130s w/WTR/tech AFDs.

I also had a pair of Lib Tech Wunderstick 118s arrive this week. They were quite affordable, and the plan was to try them and keep them as loaner skis. At 125gr in weight difference between the two skis - with the lighter ski weighing in at a noodly 2000gr - they will be passed on though. There is a noticeable difference in flex too - especially in the shovels, if not the weight difference would not have been a def deal breaker. At 118wide with 148mm shovels, the lack of weight and torsional stiffness will probably not be what the doctor ordered in dense pow or tracked/variable snow - while probably awesome in blower pow. Oh well. The graphic really pops though - I'll give em that.
