100 Year old russian photos, now in awesome color.
I can't get over how vivid and real these look. Its like looking through a time machine.

I have no idea of the technical aspects, but it looks far more real than any negative painting I've seen.
Here's some info about the process and a few more pics. I guess its done with a "software algorithm" I don't get how that colors a photo like this, but oh well, looks sick.

Pretty cool.
has a bit of a surreal look to it, but is definitely better than the older re-coloured pics that my grandparents have shown me.

But yea, there definitely is a bit of a washing effect going on, especially with some of the skies. Kinda cool looking though.

a few minutes with photochop by a professional can give you some stunning colorizations:
that should take nothing from the original photographs you posted, it's here simply for illustrative purposes.
