I've been on a non stop rotation of this Dick's Picks 12/19/73 HCS on the road lately, it's a worthy example

The HCS from Dicks #1 (December 19, 1973, Curtis Hixon Hall, Tampa, Florida), has always been a fav of mine.

My 18 year old daughter was going through some long forgotten boxes in the basement and came across some flyers/posters which she thought we super cool. I forgot I had kept them. I remember hand coloring the Summer ‘89 poster with fine point markers.

The good old days when a random hippy on tour recognized you from a few shows ago and would just hand you a copy of their artwork!

New Boxset announced. PNW '73/'74. Including this show. 06.22.1973 at PNE. I've been waiting for the Jeffery Norman magic to be put to this.

Pretty sure that is right surprisingly. Only 4 states the band never played if I remember correctly are AR, DE, ND and SD...used to spend way too many drunken nights in DeadBase. If only there was a Jeopardy category on the Dead.

Ha, there are only 4 states I haven't been to, and 3 are on that list. Coincidence?

I was at the Providence shows on this tour. Really strong stuff. I think I caught the best ever night for Brent. First, Pocky Way and Devil w/ a Blue Dress. Providence Civic Center was a freak show.
    Carpeted hallways, with speakers.
Maybe my favorite place to see them. Crazy energy.

I hit every MSG show in 87' and 88'. Saw them there more than any other place.

Same (minus the 88 benefit show which I got locked out of, only one of 2 in my days with the 2nd being the 1st night at Deer Creek 92) with the Spectrum/CoreStates Center second. Living almost exactly between the 2 didn't suck. 45 minute drive to Philly and an hour express train to msg. 3 hrs to Landover/DC, 4 to Boston and 5 to Pittsburgh made EC tours relatively easy to do most years and still not completely have to bail on school/work.

This pnw box set has me more excited than an official release since dozin at the Knick (I know, I know
Unbelievable sound. Totally worth getting lossless, headphones, and full volume. I can’t get enough. What a set of shows. The separation of instruments (yeah there are some vocal dropouts) is unreal. And you can hear every pick and key being hit. I can only imagine what they looked like on stage wailing thru the 5-19-74 Jams in particular.
