He played pedal steel with the New Riders of the Purple Sage for awhile before turning it over to Buddy Cage, including on their eponymous first album, which is an absolute banger.

I think he also played it a few times with the Dead when he was still playing with NRPS.

He played it on a few songs during the 87 Dylan/Dead tour.

Did anyone else catch that Bob and Wolf Bro's show last night on Nugs.tv? They banged out two really good sets and the guy on pedal steel should be a permanent addition to the band.

That was good! My plans changed so I’ll be catch The WBs in JH later this month. Still not really sure that group is right for the occasion but I’ll be happy to go.

I was solidly impressed by the WolfBros last year, Jay Lane is a fucking machine and Don Was gives it some oompf.

They are coming here in a few weeks, looking forward to it after seeing a few recent lists and listening to some of the Ryman show (thanks refried). Unsubstantiated rumors locally of a special guest possibility, that wouldn't suck but if I had a dollar for every time that happens here I'd have a nice ticket fund.

Tiks purchased when they went on sale luckily (sold out in a few hours if that) but with all the other tours being canceled in the last few days (Neil Young, Pearl Jam) and more to follow I am sure, it wouldn't surprise me to see him pull the plug this week too.

Thanks but my four-year-old is perfectly capable of banging around kitchen implements inside of metal pots, which sounds *exactly* like Bobby's guitar tone.

    ^

Great shots from a show that reminded me there was still a hint of spark left despite a lot more down shows than up post 92- early 93. I haven't listened to it in a long time but remember there were some solid moments, most notably scarlet>fire. Probably the last show I have any positive memories of musically now that I think about it.
