A day late on the 33rd anniversary of this gem, well except maybe Push Comes To Shove

Looks a little safe for my liking, no jams. 4 minute Black Peter? WTF? Was probably a good time, being Telluride and whatnot, but the show looks weak as fuck on paper. I’m gonna pass on this one, sorry!

Good assessment Buttah. I think Telluride plus the matrix mix is why it bubbled up for me.

This is fascinating, to me at least, as I often wondered what the hell Bobby was playing up there half of the time! Greek Theater 8-19-89

I’m betting Bobby was wondering the same thing.

And folks wonder why Healy would turn down Weir’s rig.

Yeah whatever, put it into context and it all jells together. I’m convinced Bobby’s sound was the lynchpin that held the band together. He is the psychedelic crunch that Jerry could use as a perfect foil for his high intensity noodles. I freaking love Bob Weir!

I like Bobby. I like Bobby’s cowboy songs. I like the way Bobby belts out his screams on Saturday Night. But Buttah, C’mon... don’t take a lap, but take a step back!

I just got through the 87 tride in the listening project I started last year (every show in a row...started at 85, going to July 90). T ride is ok, but there some great shows that summer. Eugene is strong, so is AZ, not to mention the other obv california shows. I’m already looking forward to getting to brents last in 90 (I’ve already listened to 89-90 a ton) and then gonna start back up w 78 thru 85... plenty to listen to and fun to not look at setlists as I go.

    For sure 82-84 is under-appreciated

Also, I’m just gonna say that it’s often dismissed as a Bobby song at times, but sugar mag might be the all-time single greatest quintessential GD song.

Because you don’t like Brent and the 80s or what? Or just don’t like GD?

Absolutely nothing wrong with late 80s Dead. Enjoy Hampton Warlocks! (The lovely Mrs EWGs first show)

What a first show! I think one of those shows was my 50th, but I'm not sure. They sure were stellar!

VERY cool that you were there. That Hampton spaceship remains a sacred place in our group for sure.

Worst cops on tour, Hampton. Even worse than Hartford. I hate that shithole town. Good venue, shit place.

Ugh. Not a fan. Ok as a guest here and there I guess, and I get that his piano solos pushed Garcia a bit, but I can’t listen to him (or really anything post Brent). And the two keyboards at once... yuck. I did see about 60 post-Brent shows and it was fun and all don’t get me wrong. And I’d kill to go back to anyone of those shitty shows
