Wow the president made a rather generic, don't be a lazy dumbass speech to the kids of America, the audacity.
Guess what I'm not an Obama fan and I wasn't a Bush fan either, but I'm not going to criticize either of them for something rather innocent like this. Thats what Iraq and gradually going Socialist are for.
I only skimmed Obama's message to the kids, but what I did read was full of win and decent "life instruction" that transcends political beliefs.
Koran in the Pledge? People actually think that? The guys not even a Muslim and if he was, that doesn't mean he is out to convert the school children of America. I don't give a fuck what the President's personal religious beliefs are, as long as they protect our right to worship or not worship as we ourselves see fit (amongst other rights, obviously). Ethnic/religious paranoia only distracts from actual issues that people should be paying attention to instead of this.
And what the fuck is Bunko?

my wife's district wouldn't play it live - they need to preview the speech first (which probably means that it'll never get aired).

here's proof that communist leaders talk to the school children of there respective country.....Obama is on a slippery slope talking to kids

That, in all seriousness, is the most un-American thing I've ever read. And from someone who is stupid enough to still consider himself a patriot, no less.
The best thing you could do for your kids is kill yourself.
but first, they should watch thisLast edited by powdork; 09-09-2009 at 01:51 AM.

You are not wrong that parents should be teaching these things, so why would you take exception to the President saying them?
I can't imagine why any parent wouldn't want their kids to hear such a speech encouraging children toward achievement and responsibility. I can't imagine how it could be anything but beneficial for kids to hear such concepts from as many sources as possible. Only the most insecure, and probably inept, of parents would feel threatened by the President delivering such a speech to kids in school.
I have some major disagreements with various actions of the Obama administration, but I have absolutely no problem with the message the President delivered to school children.

i feel like one of those scientists on discovery channel who's watching some rare species from a distance. i just don't experience this level of utter retardedness in my day to day life. its fascinating to me that someone this dumb manages to function in modern society and has not accidently killed himself yet, or that he can use a computer.. its pretty amazing when you think about it.

You are the dumbest fuck on here. Really. You sacrifice your child's education out of spite and that makes you a FUCKING STUPID PIECE OF SHIT. I can't believe you've even achieved procreation.
Y'know who's really fucking your kid up? I'll give you a hint, it ain't Obama. Way to pump your kid full of blind hate. That's healthy.

I tend to assume that dude's a troll, but maybe not. I can't tell since I don't normally have many interactions with the brain damaged (especially not since I put Jer on ignore), which is what this guy is if he's not trolling.
Just staggering to see the fear that exists about Obama--but it's not something I come across in real life very much (that is, outside of the interwebz and seeing crazy people on the news yell at their Congressmen). Weird, really.[quote][//quote]

I don't have kids... But why would anyone be upset that a man who is an incredibly hard worker, and is nothing short of a huge success, wants to give a speech directed at the youth to motivate them to work hard and stay in school? I am by all means against Obama politically but he is an intelligent man and far from a bad role model.
Instead lets have a blinged out football player, who left college to be drafted into the NFL, be a role model for the youth instead.
I hate people.

No one seemed to care when Bush Jr. or Reagan addressed our nation's students, now everyone has a shit fit when Obama does it. The people that oppose Obama are so bent on hating him that they will find any way to fault him.
If Obama cured cancer tomorrow conservatives would find something wrong with that.

i hope all the people complaining/worried/protesting are taking as much interest in what their kids are being taught on a daily basis as they did yesterday....

Obama got to where he is by purposefully DECEIVING people. How is that a good role model for children?

In our school district, they let the teachers decide whether or not the kids watched. First day of school, so most of the teachers didn't find the time. Guess what? I am stupid enough to trust these teachers the other 179 days of the year, I was happy to trust them yesterday. Of my four kids, only one watched the speech and he reports that he "kind of dozed through it." This is what you call your tempest in a fucking teapot.
