    Drilling Snowboard for Mount

I have an old Voile splitboard from before they had screw hole inserts and I really need to update my stance. I need to drill new holes to do this. What size bit and tap should I use? Does the board have some metal inside it so I dont need a tap? I dont mind winging it a bit because this is an old board used as a rock board. So do you think it is fine to just drill and screw or do I tap? Thanks.

Yea thanks, but thats a bit excessive. The mount on it now has no t bolts. I'm pretty sure it has an insert. I just don’t know what size bit and if I need to put threads in the pilot hole or not. I will be reusing same screws.

If it has an insert it came in from below the core, I think, unless you put them in.

How thick is the board at the point you will drill in mm?

If you plan to do inserts you might want to helicoil. Tapping always makes it easier metal or no metal with an insert. Its not really necessary on wood but definitely with metal.

Only you will know when you drill if it has metal.
