15 years of digital evolution and Canon has yet to produce a full-frame digital camera that can shoot faster than 5fps...

edit: although I must say the new metering technology sounds intriguing.
i think the price is right, you get a lot for your $1700.. not to mention a feature film quality video camera thrown in as a bonus. the only advantages full frame has over crop is one stop of high iso noise, shallower depth of field, more resolution (pretty moot at this point), and you have more high quality wide angle lens options. crops have plenty of advantages too.. i don't know why people rag on 1.6x all the time (but not 1.3x), there's nothing wrong with it, its just that canons never put a crop sensor in a semi-pro or pro body before.. for people on this forum who are amateurs on a budget that shoot a lot of skiing and sports and need reach/portability, this camera is a no brainer..

meh 7d for $1700 vs d300 for $1900. similar feature sets, nothing much changes.

Except for the fact that there is no super35 sized sensor video camera that shoots 1080p for even close to this price. The next closet price...RED...17,500, body only, while spending another 10 grand minumum to make it actually useable.
The next cheapest HD camera that shoots 720 in high framerates. JVC's new little guy which is about 3500 and has a 1/4" sensor.

It's not built as a video camera. You're right. Funny though, for the prosumer market, its the best thing available right now.

    Gorgeous little film.
I already put down the preorder deposit at a local shop last weekend. That film further confirms what I was thinking and reading about.

i don't get how there was only one cinematographer, especially during the vows.

it's doable. just have to do a bit of running around

edit: scratch that, just watched it again and looked at the gear list – all you have to do is set up one cam on a tripod, dial in your settings and set it to record, then float around with the second camera. nothing tricky about it.

nevermind. i was confused by the differences in angles at 1:57 and 2:22. but after watching it again, the first one wasn't actually during the vows.

he/she definitely did some running around during that ceremony.

The video shot on those is amazing!
The nite shots are especially impressive.
I dont think i would have wanted to hold out and waited on buying this over my D90 that i got in Jan.
If I was into making artsy short films this would be awesome but im not.
and its prolly gonna be a few more years till i get a 1080p television.
so thank god i have no desire for this camera.
cant say that about the next camera that is a little better then this one, but also a little more affordable.
