I was hungover and got to squaw at 10am. I did one icy run and left. Did things soften up?

I was at alpine today and the usual sun facing suspects softened up quickly. I imagine the sunny parts of squaw would have been similar...

I waxed one vehicle and washed the other over the weekend.

    This guarantees precipitation.

That's what I figured. I'm getting snow snobish- with only so much ski $, got to pick my days wisely. Looking good for my upcoming 4 day weekend though!

Fun area, its so nice to only skin a short distance for great snow. Yellow the skin trails.

powdork-putting together plans for the river crossing, maybe a grappling hook gun for the river crossing?

nice to have a day off...

    An... "interesting" weekend.

There was pretty nice skiing on Saturday despite the rain, and good stuff Sunday once it thawed. With the next storm starting warm too, I'm hoping that we get good layer cohesion if nothing else.

Most fun skis of the weekend were definitely the 194 Stockli Stormrider XLs I got from Telemike. Edgehold plus no speed limit equals fun.

Got out Saturday for some surprisingly good turns at Rose and based on the above reports for yesterday, sounds like I made a good decision to go ride the buff, tacky, grippy singletrack in Auburn.

    Nope!
Everything we tried Sunday was icy and "locked up". Lots of stuff stayed closed that would normally soften (KT's East Face).
Found one patch of corny bumps on Granite Chief.
Oh yeh, Sun Bowl off Headwall skied fine, but getting out sucked

Eventually, we made it over to Tower 16(?)/Sundance, along with many, many others.
It looked kinda funny, with so many peeps working down through the soft bumps.

Saturday at SugarBowl was pretty damn good though
Does anyone know if the area skiers right of Nancy's Couloir (before you get to the Sugar Bowl) has a name?

    Thanks for the stoke

Out here in Maine and it is cold and icy and we are counting snow by the inches. In 4 weeks I will be in Lake Tahoe for a month.

Some of the thickest fog I have seen at Alpine:

It was covering the lower 1/3 of the Sherwood chair.

Managed to ski some really nice corn from the radio tower heading towards Sherwood on Sunday ~11:30. Needed flog lights by the time we got to the groomer road out.

    Midweek Dumpage!

Finally a decent sized midweek storm cycle! This is what I live for, might take out my buddies G9 and get some shots for you poor bastards in the bay working desk jobs to drool over. Looks like there might be another one rolling in on sunday, hopefully it will hold out til monday!!

And what must have been minutes later, Sinecure took an identical photo, except with G2A and Mrs G2A blocking the view. Very odd condition to be sure. Somewhat surreal just dropping into that fog bank and going from perfect corn to corrugated tin with a few seconds.

Lol that what I would call the area/ski run if one were to skin/ski it.

let me know, and bring you skins!

^^Ive got some of those on my phone. No people though. Just getting to the bottom of lakeview in the fog was a bit sketchy, then what they groomed over there looked so awful from the chair we went right back to scott, granted it was early. Pretty crazy stuff.

    Here's to having Wed-Thursday off!
