It's a small island, i bet i can find my way around. From what I've heard it's gotta have perfect winds or it's worthless. I may as well stay home again, hopefully there won't be anymore kayak wars.

As for the LI chatter. I think that is a good call. And if the wind has too much east in it, everything else is screwed anyway. Long Beach, Rockaway and a few others do just fine with a NE. I think the other choice is RI. Find a protected nook.
East trajectory is good.Last edited by Ottime; 08-28-2009 at 07:33 AM.

Holy crap I love surfing. Last weekend was all survival for me. I didn't find any real good shoulders and was mostly stinkbugging at a million miles an hour trying to outrun closeouts. Which is fun, but I like to be the hunter and Bill definitely had the upper hand.
But today! Peaks galore, head-high drops and long chest-to-shoulder lines (for here). After last weekend this stuff seems as powerful as wind chop, so I'm way more aggro, and there are peaks galore.
I'm exhausted. Rides so long you basically paddle all the way out after every ride.
Eating an apple after this then getting after it.
Aroo.

Maybe head-high was pushing it. Still super fun and clean. And empty -- just one other guy out where I was shralping.
Eating lunch, checking in at the office, then hopefully an afternoon shralp before the wife and kids show up.
It's pretty sweet staying 50 feet from the beach . Wish I could do this all the time.

Way to get after it.
Had an unexpected day off here, so I headed up the coast in the morning. Two sessions of glassy, fun, and sometimes thick head high surf. It was supposed to be flat today - in between swells. Ooops. Might grab a third after a CostCo run.

Maybe the best day ever for me in terms of quality. 4 sessions total.
3rd Session: offshore wind picked up in the afternoon. Steeper drops, stronger bottom turns. May have even thrown a coupe buckets but probably not. Blue water. Pelicans "riding" the wave, 6 inches in front of it. Dolphins and shit.
4th Session, almost sunset: A buddy showed up with his Longboard so I busted out my wife's foam BZ. We were backdropped by a full rainbow, which is appropriate since I was on a big pink foamie. I don't care if I look like a kook -- those things are fun. Turns sharper than my longboard and I'll drop in on anything. Plus it's fun stealing waves from the kids on shortboards.
I am so happy. /blog

It's like rocking some skinny skis, or an old-timey snowboard. A little campy, not optimal, and being on it makes me appreciate my shortboard. Heck, after today I'd almost rather ride it than my longboard.
Also, it's pink.
Hopefully there will be some leftovers tomorrow so I can shralp with Mrs. Frizzo. If it's as clean as it was today but a little smaller she'll have the time of her life.

Surfed tonight in NH, pretty small waist high maybe some chest sets. Sheltered spot, but still had 25 mph gusts to the face which sucked. Tmro looks good in the morning up here.

Yeah like seriously.
PS: ITS HERE! ITS HERE! THE SURF IS HERE!
Was pretty lame-o earlier but on a whim we went to the beach since the rain stopped and it was nice out. Small army of locals out ripping up head+ surf.
Good shit. Forgot the DSLR, couple P&S shots to come.
Gonna go out tomorrow am before working. It should be firing pretty well still then.вы все все равно скоро сдохнете

To Maine, Danny brought fun - but windy and somewhat sideshore - surf on Saturday, and very fun, foot overhead or so stuff on Sunday am, with very clean, but fun waist-chest leftovers this am.
