Looks like a nice trajectory. A bit tight for NE, but beggars can not be choosers.

All this tropics talk is giving me fond memories of Gabriela. She was a true gem. Cat 5 that retrograded into the Gulf of Maine. Hugeness ensued.

A bit close to the coast, and a fast mover. Plann accordingly.

OTOH, can't wait until I get off work...

BTW - Did anyone check out Block Island, Green Point or Timber Island? Did the swell get big enough? After looking at the charts last night, I guess those pics look as expected based on the buoys. I thought it may have been a bit bigger, but perhaps it peaks over night.

I heard some of the mid-big wave spots in southern ME were going. Still no reports for any of the reefs between Little River and Kbunk.

^^^Opps, sorry about that. Oh yeah, Right Coast. Bummer. I guess I will just keep on working here.

Block was gnarl. I can imagine that. Those evil rocks kind of give the island its name. Never got to surf out there, but always wanted to. I thought there was a point on the NE side that could handle a pretty sizable S.

Rockaway may hold up for a bit. If the storm is far enough east, it could maintain an off shore flow. Or even a NE flow gets funneled through the projects. That pocket picks packs in the swell, so there in now where for it to dissipate. NJ would be good, but NE wind kind of wrecks it.

The OB briefly, after it passes. This thing will at least churn the waters south of the Cape. Nooks and crannies will be your friend. Hide from the wind behind jetties and inlets.

If it tracks from NC and east of the Cape, I'd say Nova Scotia for the win. There is a ferry from Portland. But if it gets blocked by the Cape, any swell will only scratch the coast up there. The southern part of the gulf really won't get much, I thinks. So yes, head north.

We have a storm as well. Doubt we will get much, but up north is some promise...

    Oh, wrong coast again.

The MV spot will fire this weekend.

Too bad I won't be anywhere near it.

I'll make sure to have a camera cable with me to keep you guys updated about what LI looks like (as long as we have power).
