Heh. I actually poured it in a different glass first before I remembered I had a chilled BB glass. Dumped it in a little hastily.

    That ain't a lager, Rookie! ;-)

Torpedos are good, strong old style west coast brew; I've mentioned it before on here, but check out lagunitas super cluster citra mega ale for a good deal on a decent 8% ale. About $10 a six pack

May have been asked and answered before but why did Farnhum change from numbered brews to names?

They're all over the map nowadays; I've heard it was to differentiate from their Canadian counter-parts and I just think the numbers were confusing.
The roll out of their new branding and can design was pretty generic. Ie. Hazy camper, northern summit...And they switched all their recipes, which Leads me to believe it's high turnover of brewmasters

As far as I can tell they're in the process of their third iteration /Recipies. I asked about the 'into the mystic' milkshake ipa (which was never the same after their rebranding) and "northern summit' and they said they've basically discontinued those and now sell a dipa 'chasing comet" which is very good, (drinking it now), seems a cross between the northern summit and that exceptional #41 they brewed last summer.

The comet flew off out shelf , buoyed by the 8.5 ABV and easy drinkability and the lotus is a fantastic session ipa with a light lemon zest.

Also their collab beer with green empire 'pumped' is exceptional

Speaking of numbering beers, Gigantic (I posted a few pix/reviews of a coupla their brews here a few pages back), seem to number their beers. But they also give them names, too. That was the first time I encountered this practise, to be honest.
Although, now that I think about it, one of my local breweries, Alibi Aleworks, did number a bunch of their early IPAs (they started out brewing mostly porters, sours, and saisons and then when they were established dipped into the IPA realm and would number them initially...now all of their IPAs have proper names).

Transgression Culture Series: Wetter Gravity New-American Hoppy Ale
Foreign Objects Beer Company, Stratford, CT
    ABV: 10%
    Hops: Citra and Azacca
    BOD: 1/24/19
    Drink Date: 4/12/19
    Triple Dry Hopped

Floral aroma when I popped the tab and a spicy mouthfeel with a mild, refreshing bitter finish. Smooth for what is essentially a DIPA (it was mismarked as a "regular" IPA at the local natural food store). Rich, creamy, but not as "heavy" as most DIPAs, imho (I'm not a huge drinker/fan of DIPAs and TRIPAs, fwiw as they are usually to "heavy" and "rich" for my palate).

Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing is solid and by me competitively priced - <$15/12 pack out the door. I've never really cared for Torpedo, nor Tropical Torpedo.

Surly Space Race is a solid hazy DIPA, but not nearly as cheap.

    To each their own!
To me, "Hazy Little Thing" is about as generic and unintersting as a hazy IPA can get.

Never heard of Surly Space Race...is that yet another new Sierra Nevada style of beer?

it's nothing special, true. but its not expensive. in general I find the hazy IPAs way less differentiated than other IPAs have been. maybe my tongue is toast.

    different brewing company.

Just finished a Space Race 20 minutes ago. Really good. Surprisingly drinkable at 9.6%. Super aromatic. A slightly more robust version of their One Man Mosh Pit. It’s a small batch offering. Will be buying more this week to stock up.

Tough, Maybe impossible, to produce an excellent hazy on the cheap.

Music Man Series: Merle Hazy Double IPA
Dust Bowl Brewing Company, Turlock, CA
    ABV: 8.5%
    Hops: ?
    IBU: ?
    BOD: 3/14/19

Aroma from cracking the can was tangy, as in TANG, the Space-Age orange drink (it also reminded me of the orange or red Sour Patch Kids smell). Taste was rich, creamy, with an even bitter finish. Definitely one of the mellower DIPAs I've had (but at 8.5% it is definitely on the lighter side of the style for sure).

This brew is straight Frank Sinatra...

Tangerine aroma assaults you from first crack, the taste is mildly citrusy with a mellow bitterness. Rather tasty as the liquid accompaniement to a lunch of veggie chicken strip sandwich trimmed with tahini, home-made kale/asparagus pesto, heirloom tomatoes, sliced beets, and arugula, plus Praxis and Protein blasting from the stereo.

Frost Double Shush. Canned 03/19/19, still tastes great. 8.0%, 60 IBU. Maybe my favorite release of theirs that I’ve tried.
