Atomic Piggy Bank Northeast Style IPA
Shoe Tree Brewing Company, Carson City, NV
The thing I am learning about hazy IPAs, at least for me, is that I prefer the hybrid ones, ones that start off fruit forward, yet end with a clean, noticeable hop bitter finish, preferably with notes of pine or some such other pungent flavor.
This other thing I have learned is that if they don't finish with that resin taste, then I like them in small doses and have found that they pair well with food, specifically spicy food.
This was of the latter variety (fruit forward and very little hop finish) and it went well with a spicy rice bowl.

Staring At The Sun IPA
The Good Wolf Brewing Company, Truckee, CA
ABV: 7.8%
This new brewery popped up at the end of 2019, but I didn't learn about them until recently. They actually purchased the old brewery and taproom from Tahoe Mountain Brewery, who have moved operations to downtown Truckee.
Good Wolf seems to be favoring hazes, sours, and farmhouse ales.
I picked up a couple of their hazy IPAs and this was the best of the two.
As with Shoe Tree's Atomic Piggy Bank, this here brew went really nicely with spicy food. I wouldn't drink it solo, but again when paired with food it provided a nice balance to my meal.

This may be pedantic, but those IPA's are New England Style, not Northeast Style.

My pedantry was directed at Shade Tree, not you! Your beer reviews are great! I wish I could more California and Oregon beer up here, but the craft market is pretty saturated with local products.
And while they may use them interchangeably, they aren't, because while all of New England is in the Northeast, not all of the Northeast states are in New England, and I believe the origins of the hazy IPA lie in a New England state.

Perhaps some of our New England and Northeast compadres can chime in?

Fwiw, the 500ml bottle sells for $6.39 at most liquor stores in Cali, so $7 delivered doesn't seem so bad all things considered...not quite sure where you are picking it up/drinking it for cheaper than that...not to mention most stores place a 3 bottle limit on the purchase of Pliny...

$7-8 a bottle in CO. So $7 delivered would be great if they would send it here. But I’m kinda down on IPAs I can see through these days with a few exceptions.
Though I did enjoy a Pliny on Friday night, I have to admit...

What a golden age we live in as beer drinkers. I'm sure you don't have any trouble finding a nice array of hazy IPA's in most stores these days. I'm at the point where I'm over hazy IPA's, and will only drink one that is pretty damn transparent, yet I can also find a great variety.
It's been almost ten years since I've had a Pliny, at this point I would pay more than $7 for a bottle just for the novelty of drinking it again.

I've gotten fairly particular in my tastes, and it's actually fairly hard to regularly find the kind of hazy IPA quality I want. Dookey makes me jealous. Regulars for me are beers by Outer Range and Weldwerks, Two Juicy, maybe Relax, maybe some Knotted Root, and then whatever I can scrounge up as special buys from various stores. I usually have regualr deliveries fo Tree House, which is awesome, but that's been tough with quarantine - my normal connection is out.
12oz go-tos are Ecliptic Phaser, New Image Coriolis, and Odd13 Superfan. I honestly don't know of many really good hazy regular releases in 6 packs. I mean Ska and Great Divide and River North make passable 6 pack hazys, but why settle for passable? Open to suggestions.
Clear IPAs I will happily drink right now - Comrade Superpower, Liquid Mechanics Lucid AF. Maybe La Cumbre Elevated. Those are some serious beers.
SO anyway, the hazys are not as easy to find as regular releases as I would like. Easier if I lived out east...

Ah, I don't recall what I paid last yr in SF. Probably $10 a bottle
Slightly smaller cans, so losing an ounce per.
I was saying more the availability of so many great beers today, it's hard to justify paying that much for a shipment. Plus my local micro store gives us points that accumulates into $10 off...and they have Fiddlehead now!

My guess would be because New York is putting out some amazing brews. All the NY hazy ipas we get in say Northeastern, all the VT, ME, MA & CT ones say New England. ( we don’t get shit from RI or NH )
Not sure where you’re at, we ship a ton of beer to CA, WA & OR. I think 27 states In total. Lots of New England and Northeastern ipas I’ll put up a changeforanickel coupon code tomorrow.
Thanks for the orders from the guys that ordered before, the shipping discount screwed up so I just threw in extra beers.
