That's the one I had, so good I got 2. Cool, I'll learn the secret handshake before (if/when) Jr heads back to school. I'll make it across the water for a visit at some point this summer.

    Moon Wolf Hazy IPA
    Revision Brewing, Sparks, NV
    ABV: 7%
    Hops: Mosaic and Mandarina Bavaria
    IBU: 40
    Canning Date: 5/23/20
    Drink Date: 5/28/20

I kept putting off making the trek to Revision and as a result I missed out on the 4-pack cans of this tasty offering. Instead, I was "forced" to snag a 32oz crowler. Having become a lightweight (2 beers puts me over these days), I saved it for my birthday, the 28th. After a morning of hiking/skiing, I enjoyed it with a homemade veggie burger and some Vegan Rob's puffs (best "chip" on the market, imho).
While Revision is one of my favorite local breweries, they also tend to crank out a bevy of hazy IPAs that all taste really similar (thinking this is because they really favor always using the same hop combinations: Simcoe, Mosaic, Galaxy) and all hovering in the 25 - to - 30 IBU range.
This one drifted from their normal modus operandi in that it contains a mix of Mosaic and Mandarina Bavaria hops and has an IBU of 40.
It has a mild fruit forward taste buffered by a nice, spicey bitterness on the backend.

Taking a stab at this query:

A pale ale whose ABV exceeds 8%?

But, yeah, have not heard of that stylet yet from any of the breweries out here ...

Yeah, but that Superscript is listed as 6%.

I've heard of XPA - extra pale ale used in that situation, but imperial pale ale is something new to me. Kinda dumb, honestly.

According to the googles: Imperial pale ale is a pale ale whose hops aroma, hops flavor, and alcoholic strength have more in common with IPA than pale ale, but whose malt profile and overall drinkability have more in common with pale ale than IPA. - beerandbrewing.com

But yeah, kind of dumb. All is know is it’s fucking good.

Maltier and slightly higher ABV pale ale. Most people won't use very much crystal if any at all in an IPA, but it is acceptable in a pale ale. Kinda funny that a pale is darker than an IPA but that's the world we live in. I think that "Extra Pale Ale" captures the qualities of the beer better than imperial.

Totally agree on the crystal malt thing but Superscript is only pils, 2 row, and “flaked grains” (likely wheat and/or oat).

    Imperial pale ale is dumb.

After reading this article I feel that I may be an IPA neophyte.

I grew up in California and have mostly been drinking Ca, Oregon, and Washington IPAs/craft beers since the college days, yet I had never heard of De Bakkers, New Albion, or Grants until this article...

I remember drinking lots of Grant’s Scottish Ale in the early 90s.

On another note, whatever happened to Henry Weinhard’s beers?

The brand is now owned and (I think) brewed by Miller Coors. A shadow of its former self, but probably still available on super market shelves in the PNW.

Funny, I have not seen HW on shelves for years.
That was the "high-end " shitty beer of my college days.

On the craft tip, one of my first forays was Red Tail Ale, which initially only came in 750ml "champagne" bottles with a cork and you had to buy it at a specialty wine shop.
When they finally shifted to 12oz bottles, they were ubiquitous (as in every Safeway, Von's, etc).
Have not seen RT on the shelves for years now.

    You’re welcome. Hope they’re satisfactory.

Just tapped a 3 month-old 20L barrel of Citra Friendly from Green Empire. Tasting great despite the “age.” Brewery is super chill to deal w/ and offered a very fair discount given its been in the cooler for a spell. No HF Citra IPA (or Pale) but still a nice pour to have at my gluttonous finger tips.

Fiddlehead 4 packs are available at City Market, Pearl St Beverage, etc. if you don’t want to deal with curbside at the brewery. Just be sure to have a clean mask, ya Covid ridden flatlander!

I’ll be at the brewery to return a few kegs in the afternoon tomorrow so let me know if you stop by.

Thanks......I got volunteered to stay at home (decided we didn’t want to bring the whole clan up). It will just be my wife and daughter getting the rest of stuff out of dorms. I’m planning on ordering online and she’ll pick up curbside around 4-5 on way home. If you see 2 blonde PA chicks..ask for change...lol.

I know, us out of staters are trouble..lol.....we deal with (NY/NJ) all summer long at the Lake.

I’ll post a pic of the order tomorrow night....

First stop should be Foam, the can list is pretty solid right now. I'll be there at some point if you want to meet up for a patio mini?

    Late edit: Offer stands G.

Foam is great....Wife loves that place....

Assuming they doing curbside pickup ...She’ll probably stop there too...lol. I’ll take a look online/give her an order.

Once this all clears....I’d meet up for mag beers when in town...
