Swamp Angel West Coast Hazy IPA
Crooked Lane Brewing Company, Auburn, CA
BOD: ?
Purchase Date: 3/20/20
Drink Date: 3/26/20
ABV: 7%
Hops: ?
IBU: ?
This is the kind of hazy I dig: a hybrid of West Coast and East Coast styles. It's murky in terms of clarity, but instead of tasting like thickly sweet old apricot nectar (which too many hazy IPAs remind me of), it starts out sweet and comes clean with a nice, bitter finish; truly the best of both worlds (East and West Coast-styled IPA textures and flavors). Not sure what the IBUs are, but I'm guessing in the 40-60 range, which is where I dig them to be (again, too many of the hazy's I've had out here in the West lean toward the 25-35 range and end up just not being bitter enough for my palate).

The Good Good India Pale Ale
Moonraker Brewing, Auburn, CA
BOD: 3/2/20
Drink Date: 3/27/20
ABV: 6.5%
Hops: "Made with a Ridiculous Amount of Fresh Nelson Hops" according to the can
IBU: ?
This was a thick hazy IPA that tasted like a Grapefruit Julius. It was actually a refreshing respite after having been drinking mostly more West Coast oriented, clearish, and extra hoppy IPAs of late.
If I have one beef with Moonraker, it's that they never specify on the can if the IPA is hazy or not. Granted, they have made a name for themselves as being one of the preeminent purveyors of NE-styled IPAs on the West Coast, so it's usually a sure bet than when you pick up one of their new IPAs it's gonna be hazy, but it would be nice if they stipulated the style on the can. Also, they very rarely list the hops used or the IBU, information that I actually enjoy getting on the can.

Agree about fiddlehead. Everything I’ve had has whatever I like about IPA’s. I can’t define or put that into words and just accept it.

Bumping this because Foam is willing to deliver beer to my front door....45 min. from their brewery.
If they’ll offer, I’ll take them up on it.

My in-laws live a 5 minute walk from Foam. Everything I've had from them is fantastic.

I ordered a few different beers and it’s all exceptional. I also got a growler of a 7% IPA and couldn’t stop drinking it.

East Coast IPA
Truckee Brewing Company, Truckee, CA
BOD: ?
Canning Date: 4/16/20
Drink Date: 4/16/20
ABV: 6.8%
Hops: Magnum, Citra, El Dorado, Mosaic
IBU: 42
This comes from one of our 5 local breweries (it may just be the smallest local brewery, too). Up until Covid quarantine hit they weren't canning, but now they offer a 4-pak for $15 that you can mix/match up to 4 beers of your choice from their menu. I opted to get each of the 4 IPAs they have on offer: EC, WC, Truckee, and a session.
This East Coast IPA looked and tasted more like a bold West Coast or a Red IPA (given that they called it an "East Coast", I was expecting a hazy, fruit forward, and yeasty brew). Despite not being what I thought it would be in terms of color and flavor, it was extremely solid. I loath the terms "juicy" and "dank", but damn if they aren't applicable to this IPA. It had a quick hit of citrus (another term I am starting to dislike, but what the heck) upfront followed by a clean and lingering bitterness.

Alibi IPA
Alibi Ale Works, Incline Village, NV
BOD: 3/27/20
Drink Date: 4/17/20ABV: 6.2%
Hops: Mosaic, Ed Dorado, Strata, Chinook
IBU: ?
Malt: Pilsner, Pale, Malted Oats, Flaked Wheat
Yeast: Alibi Ale Yeast
Water: from Lake Tahoe
Alibi is prehaps best know for their sours and farm house ales and saisons, but their IPA is solid. It's a bit mellower than most West Coast-styled IPAs, with a clean, soft feel and a mildly bitter finish. But it is extremely well-rounded.
Big ups to the brewery for also selling 5lb bags of flour and rice and gallon jugs of vinegar (stapes that are constantly sold out at the local supermarkets), as well.

Alibi makes a lot of great beers. I was stoked when they opened up the Truckee location.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

some damn good IPA's out there
Equilibrium is making some great beers. This one came in and sold out in a day.
I don’t usually mention (or spam?) my store on here, but if people either don’t want to go to a beer store, or are not in an area with good beer, we ship nationwide to 26 states ( look on the FAQ page for the list of states). If your state isn’t listed, send me a pm and I’ll put it through anyways. I can do a small mag discount on shipping, use code ship20 in checkout. Site is thecraftbeercenter.com , new brews come in Tuesday’s and Friday’s every week.
