Rare triple down. Must avoid that one.

I usually dig most stuff from Treehouse but this Baby Bright is one big “meh.” Not much hop flavor, mouth feel of Coors Light and an odd spicy finish. There are quite a few beers similar to this around here (5.x% IPA/APA’s), BBC Elaborate Metaphor and HF Edward to name a couple, and they’re superior to this in every way.

I was stoked to get this, as I’m loving hoppy, lower ABV beers lately, but this Baby Bright is a huge let down.

Might as well have had the PB’er pounder that’s in my fridge.

Local (as in less than 5 miles from the house local) goodness:

    Fifty/Fifty Brewery, Truckee, CA
    "West Coast Haze" IPA
    ABV: 6.0%
Hops: Calypso, Azacca, Mosaic, Amarillo, El Dorado
    IBU: ?

This is, to the best of my knowledge, oldest still operating brewery around The Lake (Lake Tahoe, that is). I have never been terribly fond of their beers (they win awards for their porter and stouts), but this season I have hit them up about a 1/2 dozen times and I've been impressed/surprised by their IPAs.
I was at the brewery about 2 weeks ago and I had "Cyborg Octopus" (a haze with 45 IBU that I just had to drink based on the name alone!) and "Thunder Road" (a more trad, "clear" IPA with 50+ IBU) and both were super tasty).
This jam is solid and easy on the palatte with a nice, solid balance between the fruity hop essence and the bitterness at the finish.

The Hop Concept, San Marcos, CA
"Tropical and Juicy: Hop Freshener Series" IPA
    ABV: 8.5%
Hops: Amarillo, Cascade, Citra, Eureka, Galaxxy, Mosaic, Simcoe, Vic's Secret
    IBU: ?
BOD: ? (it was smeared on the bottom of the can)
    Drink Date: 3/19/19

Solid West Coast (ie. Clear)-styled IPA with a thick, juicy front-end and nice, even bitter finish.

I've had it a number of times and it's super tasty as are all of their beers I've been able to score here in Truckee. This was actually the first of their beers I had, perhaps 3 years ago (?). The market at the resort I work at carries some of their beers, but I scored this at the local natural food co-op in Truckee. I have also found it at the market by Donner Lake, too, but I have not frequented that spot in about a year, so not sure if they still carry it.
Pretty much if I see a bottle of Breakside, I buy it!

"Made In SAC" West Coast IPA
    Device Brewing Company, Sacramento, CA
    ABV: 6.2%
    IBU: 30

The can says "Drink Fresh", but the BOD was 1/24/19 and I purchased it on 3/22/19...not sure what the brewery considers "fresh" (I usually try to abide by the 28 days from canning window). At any rate, I plunked down and bought a 4-pack when I was down in Sacramento to see Cypress Hill last night and this brewery's stuff is hard to find in my hood.
Drank one today with luch and it was still tasty, even coming up on the 3-month-from-canning mark.
Light, straw color, and nicely bitter hop finish despite the low IBU.
    Very crushable.

"What The Haze?" Northeast Style IPA
    Device Brewing Company, Sacramento, CA
    ABV: 6.5%
    IBU: 30
Picked up a 4-pack of this on Friday when I was in Mid-Town Sac to see Cypress Hill.
The can says "Drink Fresh", but the BOD is 1/17/19, so not sure what the brewery means by "drink fresh"...
Still, despite being 2 months old it tasted pretty solid.
I have had this IPA before and I think it's their strongest haze that I've had (they also brew one called "A Curious Haze", which is much more of a West Coast-meets-Northeast-styled haze).

"In The Gold Dust Rush" New-American Hoppy Ale
Foreign Objects Beer Company, Stratford, CT
    ABV: 6,7%
    BOD: January 18, 2019
    Drink Date: March 26th, 2019

From the can: "Weigh your life and genuflect in the rush...This super-silky golden colored New-American Hoppy Ale expresses what drives our philosophical sensory intent. This ale is made with layered aromatics of citrus, melon, stone fruit, and classic American hop character all infused into a liquid love trip"

    "DDH is our norm/Drink Now"

I dunno about you, but I am becoming a bit tired with the wordy descriptions on many craft brew cans. It's like the brewers wish they'd been beatnik poets or post-modern authors. Fucking just tell me what hops you used, what the IBU is, what the ABV is, and the style (and c'mon, you really need to keep coming up with "new" names for a haze or an IPA? Not to mention describing the flavors with catch-all/broad words like: "stone fruit", "melon", and "citrus"). Just tell me what hops you used and let me figure out what it tastes like and ditch the flowery prose (speaking of which has anybody read some of the stuff printed on Stone Brewing's cans lately? It's like 5th Grade fiction competition writing!).

That said, I enjoyed this one. It was super juicy upfront with a spicy kick on the back-end. Not terribly bitter, but also not terribly sweet. Went well with a spicy meal.

I would be curious to know if the flavor profile has changed considerably since canning, especially since the can states boldly "DRINK NOW" and I drank it 2+ months after the BOD.

Don't mean to interrupt the east coast circle jerk but this stuff is maybe the most hoppy IPA I've ever had. And at 9.4% it packs a punch.Click image for larger version.

Dangerously hard to taste the booze, outstanding beer. Canned yesterday. First Tree House session lived up to the hype.
