"Owyhee Northeast-Style Hazy IPA"
Collab between Revision Brewing Company, Sparks, NV & Kohola Brewery , Maui
ABV: 6%
IBU: 35
Hops: Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe
BOD: 12/12/18
Last Drink Date: 1/22/19
Revision is pretty solid with the hazes, but I have to say that many of them have begun to taste really, really similar to me. This might be because they seem to favor the same hop profiles on all of their hazes (Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, sometimes Galaxy and sometime Amarillo). The hazes I put in super high regard often tweak the standard 5 fruit forward hops with a left-field hop variety. But, again, Revision is solid and I never miss an opportunity to stock up on their latest brews when I trek down the mountains into Reno for a day (usually at the least once a month).
I have also begun to find that hazes taste really good/way better with dinner (tonight it was a lentil, quinoa, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot concoction with homemade "hippy" marinara (tomotoes, tomatillos, carrots, beets, hemp seeds, shitake mushrooms, celery, celantro) in concert with bowtie pasta and a grilled cheese sandwich (muenster and havarti)).

This is what I would call your Old School West Coast-styled IPA. Super caramel in color, mild start with a solid and even bitter finish (i.e. pretty damn hoppy). Very woodsy. Zero info on the can other than: "Ingredients: Mountain Water, Malted Barley, Hops, Yeast". Plus it's just called "IPA", no hipster, snarky name, just "IPA." Like I said: Old School
This is a beer I think Shakespeare might have drunk for sure.

Had some mediocre IPAs today:
"Due East" from Boulder Beer Co. - a pretty routine hazy IPA. Not bad, but it didn't stand-out much.
"Courtside" from Knee Deep - I LOVE their "Breaking Bud" IPA, but this one was thin and boring.
"Still Gonna Send It" from Knee Deep - I LOVE their "Breaking Bud" IPA, but this one was pretty generic to my taste buds.
The last two might have been a bit off as their BOD's were 12/19/18 and 12/21/18, respectively, but they just didn't have the same flavor blast as "Breaking Bud", which is one of my favorite "West Coast"-styled IPAs.

I may have to recind my earlier remarks about "Courtside IPA" and "Still Gonna Send It IPA" being "mediocre".
Been drinking through them the past few days to open up the fridge and because they are a tad past the 28-day window I usually allow craft beers.
But they've been growing on me.
Especially good with spicey and starchy food...

I had a "McConkey IPA" on tap about a week ago. I asked the barkeep what brewery it was from and they shrugged. Not sure if mine was from the same brewery you have here or if it's another "McConkey IPA" (seems strange/a shame that it would be brewed by a brewery in CO and not one in Tahoe)...
But I digress...the one I had was SUPER tasty. Hoppy and juicy

I guess it makes sense (a bit) since he started his "professional" skiing career after dropping out of UofC, Boulder (and when you Google him several of his obits tout him as "Former Vail resident"...) but being from Cali and whatnot, I have always associated him with Squaw Valley...I mean that's where he was living during the latter years of his life and I believe his family still lives here...
Again, not sure if I had the same beer, but I enjoyed the one I had.

So a brewery is capitalizing on the reputation and actions of a dead guy? Are his widow or daughter getting something out of this?
