Yearbook - Solid Premiere
Checked out the "World Premiere" of MSP 's Yearbook last night in Aspen. The Wheeler was sold out for the event and many of the rock stars were in attendance along with the MSP crew. This movie flows nicely, has tunes that you'd expect in an MSP or TGR flick, and the campy yearbook theme works too. Other than that...
-Mark Abma and Stian display some impressive big mountain skiing. Ingrid flashes a super cute smile, skis fast and strong, and takes an impressive beater.
-Tanner brings the gorilla steez out of the park and proves that he's got the landing switch in pow perfected to an art form. I'll be interested to hear what others think of the gorilla steez in steep and deep conditions. The crouching back stylee looks like a recipe for a blow knee - to me. Whatever works for you?
-JT and Shane's breathtaking ski to base-jumping runs as one of the longer segments. A beautiful idea in an amazing setting, this micro-niche of the sport will impress even if it is completely unattainable to most.
-Mike Wilson's doomed gap attempt at the Buttermilk Superpark was eerily similar to the road gap debacle in the Junk Shows DVD bonus footy. Holy shit, I'm for balls to the wall going for it as much as the next guy. BUT, when your life on the line you might want to at least chat up a high school physics student.
-Seth's sequence is an obvious letdown. He bummingly tells of being skunked first in Norway and then flying halfway around the globe to similar pow over crust conditions in Bella Coola. In the footage he is charging hard as always, but conditions are not soft enough for huge Lincolns off cliffs. Then he blows his ankle (I think). This is depressing if this is what big time ski porn has come to. This man can entertain with or without the exotic locale, helis, and huge budgets. His skiing in Bella Coola and Norway is techy and fun too watch even sans lincolns. Hell, I am still amazing by his lines in the Hedonist where he is just ripping the shit out CB.
-Sarah Burke plays the porn style, colon-tickling nurse in the fictitious yearbook. Even though it might seem impossible, she looked even better in person. There's only one law ya can't break .......embarrassing a cop in public.

Nice job giving us a summary without "ruining it." OK, I guess it's tough to ruin a ski movie, but whatever, nice report.
