After receiving numerous reports of aggressive mountain lion behavior in west Glenwood Springs, Colorado last month, and despite outrage expressed by some concerned residents, Colorado Parks and Wildlife has rid the area of what officials considered to be its most dangerous predators, reports Alex Zorn for the Vail Daily.
During January, five mountain lions were trapped and killed in the neighborhood, four of which were believed to be a mother and her three kittens, according to CPW Area Wildlife Manager Perry Will. Will said officials are not actively going after more lions at this time, since trapping and killing the last one last week. Earlier in January, infrared nighttime video taken from a residence in West Glenwood showed four lions stalking a West Glenwood Springs neighborhood, leading officials to capture what was believed to be a mother with her three grown kittens.skid luxury

Crazy.
Mrs2e and I were out there riding Monday afternoon. Park was almost empty. Got to the parking lot and there were three rangers unloading a 4 wheeler. I did my customary request for a shuttle to the top and went on my way. Passed another 2 rangers, 2 Sherifs and a department of wildlife truck on the way back to town. Another friend who started about 10 min before we took off said the rangers tracked her down and insisted that they leave the park immediately. Wouldn't tell her why, just said the park was closed for her safety and she needed to high tail it out of there.
Fack. We're out there all the fucking time. My wife bikes alone out there and runs with the dog too. This will take some of the sting out of moving away next week. However many are in a shit ton.

^^^Heh when we were adopting our last cat they had a 25lb Maine Coon with tufted ears up for grabs.
So wanted him - would have taken him for walks through our village to freak out the tourists with yapper dogs.
But noooo, we had to get an 8lb black DSH...

We have a Maine Coon. He is kind of a badass, hunting wise, but the other local cats dominate him a little bit. Super sweetheart, loves attention.

Side note, but related: Anyone been watching the Tiger King series on Netflix? Outside of the big cat footage the people featured in the series are way more scary....

Maine Coon and Norwegian Forests are some cool looking cats from internet pics. I have never seen one in person. That Tiger King mini-series definitely has some interesting characters.

Pretty crazy, she was the middle in a group of 5 and it pounced and latched onto her jaw.

Maybe my friend will stop making fun of me for carrying bear spray when riding there now.
