I rented a 24mm f/1.4 prime for a week. Had two clear nights. Here's the results. So worth it! Check http://BorrowLenses.com, it was pretty affordable.

OK - so I tried two star trails shots. It was really hard to balance the light from the houses on the far shore, the stars, the reflection of the starts, and the fog with occasional headlights. Which of these two do you prefer, and why?

I like the second one (out of the last two).. from a jongish perspective:
darker sky, cooler flair on the lights across the lake, and better foreground with the trails in the lake.

I really like the third one. Now I'm wondering how you could catch a similar shot w/ a skier in it somehow. Maybe the skier wears a headlamp for light trail? Maybe you take it on the shoulder and try to get skier blur? Not really sure...

Regardless, very cool shots. I love renting lenses, particularly for someone like me that wouldn't use it on a daily or weekly basis.

Very cool- some breathtaking, all time shots in there. I would hang just about any one of those up on the wall. Also a great reminder how many ridiculously talented photographers there are on flickr.
