Is it possible to get a decent Espresso in SLC?
I have just about given up. Is it even remotely possible to get a decent espresso here? and dont mention beans and brews.... that shit is so bad that it probably would make the great salt lake taste good.

I dunno, but if you pronounce it "expresso" you can get a slap in the face.

Gunder, try:
Canyon Coffee & Cafe
6522 South Big Cottonwood Canyon
Salt Lake City, UT 84121
(801) 947-0848
It's in that new(er) shopping center off of Wasatch Blvd on the way up
the hill to the Fort Union 7-11. I thought they had decent espresso,
and I am a self-confessed coffee snob.
Good luck,
john

Make your own. If you don't take the time to make it yourself and rely on some random barista to make coffee the way you like it then you deserve to have your taste buds dipped in the piss he's gonna serve you.
And no, there's no good place in salt lick for good coffee.

and if you think its too expensive to do what Boissal and I are telling you to do
Gaggia Color or Pure - generally can find new for 199$
you can sometimes find used stuff for cheap cheap cheap.
Zassenhaus hand crank burr grinder - new from 70-100$ depending on model
Fresh Roast8 Roaster - ~100$ with 8lbs of beans from sweet marias
not to mention that green beans are more than half as cheap as store bought beans and infinitely fresher and you can roast them how you want...
then you also dont have to pay some idiot 2-6$ to make the drink you want

If you don't mind the hipsters, I think Coffee Garden at 9th South and 9th East has the best Espresso in Salt Lake.

I heard from good authority Starbucks is where ALL the hipsters go for the, gulp, best caffee around, cuz you pay SOO much it MUST be quality, right?

To those of you talking smack on Gunder's coffee snobbery - you don't even realize that Gunder is from near Seattle (Bellingham). Coffee snobbery is practically required in Seattle.
They'll even slash your tires if they spot you with a cup of coffee from an 7-11 or an gas station.
