TR: Double Feature: Mt. Quandary, Sniktau sunrise
Who: Mike M., Me
Where: Cristo Coulior
When: 5/8/09
Why: Insatiable need to pet snugly Quandary dog.
Route: East Ridge to Summit. Down via Cristo Coulior. Return by way of Blue Lakes Road
The necessary cute puppy shot.
Looking south towards Democrat, I think.
Top of the Cristo.
The roadblock is coming in nicely.
Looking back up the Cristo.
Basin to the south of Quandary.
The road still provides excellent transport on skis – there is snow at least 2/5 of the way down. Unless you have the misfortune of snowboarding.

Who: Mike M., Ethan (Tough_Goseys_Roommate_(TGR)), Lindsay, Me
Where: Mt. Sniktau
When: 5/11/09
Why: After a fierce night of playing D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) we were way too pumped up to sleep.
Route: Top of Loveland pass to summit along ridgeline. Down via southeast bowl. Return along long winding, partially melted stream.

Mike M. – The snow and skiing through the lower aprons/bowls was schweet, basically all the way down to the creek.
The route out down Kearney Gulch proved to be interesting. Me and Ethan made it out quite quickly, while the snow was still hard at 7:30, skiing to within 200 yards of the road with little hassle. However, our unfortunate snowboarder friend took an extra 1.5 hrs navigating the rotten creek bed – not recommended.

Nice work! Skied cristo yesterday and a week ago yesterday and holy shit is the snow receding fast. The road is open almost all the way to the dam so I'd shuttle a car if you can.
-edit: Oh yeah and that's Horton the Quandary Dog. Bring a tennis ball next time and you've got a friend for life.Last edited by Fritz; 05-11-2009 at 09:48 PM.

I wish I could have had a day as nice as that - Great TR. You have to remember the priorities on Quandry though - Horton OWNS the mountain, and you are his guest. You did the right thing though and put his picture in the report, which will move you a couple of turns up the wheel of karma to true enlightenment (the next incarnation of Horton).
