TR: A season in Canada... now with a update on page 3 (Lots of photos)
Now with a update on page 3.
Some might remember someone asking for some tips for a 7 month roadtrip. Well, that was me. Thanks again for the tips, but as usually, things turn out to different than expected/planned. After about half of our trip done and the skiing season "finished", its time reflect a little bit. Here are some thoughts about it.
So, we arived in Vancouver in mid January with the plan on mind, to ski the best powder all around in North America. In the end it was skiing all around BC. But we still got the Powder.
As soon as we arrived we started to look out for a house on wheels for the next half year. With help of the uberfamous Craigslist we found this 30 years old beauty quite soon.
The Crew and the Camper
So we started towards Whistler, which we almost immediately skipped because its lack of snow at that time and well, if I want to see an overexpensive, touristic resort, I can stay in Europe. So, we're heading towards Revelstoke over Duffy Lake Road, which is awesome.
Enjoying the view!
What a panorama.
After a brief check of the Resort in Revelstoke we went to Rogers Pass and started with skitouring. That was when the good skiing began.
Good snow...
... some air...
...stunning landscape...
...what do you want more!
Rogers Pass is a very nice place, so after a bath in Revelstoke we decided we had to go back there for another couple of days. So, we had
more snow
more air
...
charged sam gnarly lines
Althogh Rogers Pass was so nice, we decided to go further north, because it was dumping at that time around Terrace BC. On the way our furnice in the camper broke and wow, the Interior can get cold. Sometimes it was around minus 20° Celcius in the morning. In the Camper! Due to good sleeping bags we are still alive.
one of the really cold nights, close to burns lake
In Terrace we again first checked out the skiresort on Shames Moutain. Even though its so small it offers some nice backcountry access and it has probably the friendliest athmosphere i ever experienced. The good thing about this area is, it has so many skiable mountains und good snow. But the access is unfortunatly usually limited to the things you can go by the highway. A sled would be really usefull in these mountains.

After we skied some stuff out from the highway, we took a flight up at Anderson Cabin. Cabins are in my opinion the best way to get good skiing in Canada. Get up, put your gear on, step out of the door an start skiiing. Awesome.
Anderson Cabin
Anderson is a freaking cliff paradise!
getting some steep stuff
checking the world upside down
steep.deep.gnarly
to much time
After Anderson was so great we went straight to Larsen Cabin, which gave us some more great runs and a interesting ski-out.
champaigne powder
great lines
steeze
for once myself
just awesome
beautiful cabin
thats the ski-out. the highway is on the opposit of th valley
When spring arrived at Terrace we decided to go to Stewart BC. Stewart is a little bit run down and the fact that they have three liqour stores for 400 people is thought-provoking. The skiing and the mountains on the other hand are great.
on bear glacier
bear glacier
that would be a line
skiing with lydia
spring skiing in Bell II
Fun at the side of the road
Cant get much better
After Bell II we went to Smither BC, where they had there last skidays called "schnai day". Everyone was freaking out and having fun that day. A great way to finish your skiing season. I think, people in Canada appreciate skiing more than people do in Europe.
Waterslide at Hudson Bay Mountain
Concluding I think we had a really great time over all. We had almost every day powder conditions and met some awsome persons. A little disappointed was I of the skiresorts, in my opinion most are to small and way to expensive. Skitouring is the way to ski in BC.
Thanks to everyone who made us have this great times.

Great pictures!
Glad you made it north. Everybody should experience it.
I heard about you guys over Easter and saw a picture of your road skiing from a young German that stayed a night with us in Cassiar on his way hitchhiking to Whitehorse.
For a few days while we were skiing in Cassiar I kept hearing about these crazy Swedes and their nutty skin track up the Bear Glacier.
