    Throop Peak, Southern California

For some reason Caltrans repaired the closed section of Angels Crest Highway ( Hwy 2 ) and plows it months before opening. Decided to take advantage of the waste of tax payers money and bike to the base of Throop Peak with ski gear. The bike ride is about 5 miles and 1000 feet elevation gain at a constant grade.

Nice view of Baldy with clouds from the summit:

There was a bit of wind most of the day and the snow didn't get soft until late afternoon, so only got one and a half runs.

    Ski to bike:

Coasted the entire way back to the truck:

    Don't like the new label:

    Nice

And your bike was still there when you got back.

Did you see anyone else on the closed road ?

Yeah, we locked up the bikes just in case...it is LA county after all.

Didn't see anyone all day other than in the parking lot.

I think the road opens this weekend.

No socal peaks are safe from you! I'm envious.

The only things missing in this TR are a morning porto surf session and a post-ski plate of chicken and waffles at Roscoes.
I see Blue; He looks glorious.

Nice work! I enjoy these TRs that have "interesting" approaches (e.g., bikes, boats, kayaks, railcars, parachutes, etc....).
