Wow. Lots of solid choices. And I dig Tap's bridge usage.

    Great shots for this one.
I should have gotten off my ass and found a bridge or guitar...

It's one side of the top of the central support for a pedestrian bridge at the University of Utah. I couldn't get any side on shots but it is similar to nufenstein's bridge except with only one central support. Here's a shot with the wide angle.

    I picked nash's, but it was a tough choice - I loved tap's, too!

man tough call, all have very different things going for them.

tap's got originality, nash has great exposure, teef's composition is very cool, but for some reason single's just does it for me.

That's funny. It's pretty much the only bridge that springs to mind for me in the downtown area. I'm actually surprised that some other U attending mag didn't post a shot of it in this thread.

Gotta go with Nashboarder for overall best technical and interesting composition.

Loved 4teefs but not enough contrast between subject matter and the sky.

FWIW I voted for NB at the very start of the thread. The lighting really makes that shot for me and though I'm pretty sure that NB wasn't responsible for the lighting he recognized how cool it was and then handled everything else pretty much perfectly.

NB - What gear/exposure did you use for this shot? I'm interested in lens choice especially as there looks to be very little distortion... Did you nail the composition that perfect in camera or do more cropping later?

I have a Canon 40D and used my 17-55 2.8 IS for that shot.

    Stats on the shot
17mm, f/9.0, 3/10 shutter speed, iso 400. I didn't extend my tripod and shot it while I was sitting on the ground with a cable release.

I took a bunch of shots of the bridge (couple hours) from all sorts of angles. My first idea was actually shoot it from a distance because it's right next to the Nashville skyline. Didn't like how that turned out and shot it closer up from a few different angles. The angle I used was shot twice. The second one was almost dead on what you see. I did a couple minor adjustments, that's it. I'm a complete JONG when it comes to editing.

Thanks to everybody for the votes and all those that entered. I feel honored to win with such amazing photographers that post here.

Was at Talladega this weekend (Photo TR to follow ) and still catching up on some things. I'll have the new contest up tonight.
