Skullcandy sucks

So far I've bought the GI's and the Hesh and they have both broken just from wearing them. Fuck skullcandy, they make shitty products. I guess it's time to pony up and get some real headphones.

I bought those in the fall and like them pretty well. When I was poking around trying to figure out which headphones I wanted, my research led me to the conclusion that Skullcandy products tend to be shitty.

I have Skull Candy Titan's. Great for the $'s. I use the soft foamy ear pieces. Almost as good as some expensive Sure's that were chewed-up when my dog was a puppy.

I have a pair of skullcandy buds that I use for sports and stuff, and the sonys when i am actually listening to music. both serve their purpose

By far and away the best sounding headphones on the planet, Grado Labs is the absolute shit. I have the reference SR80s which for obvious reasons would not work very well with a helmet, but if you can I would check out the iGrado's they use the same drivers as the SR60s which is by far the best sounding headphone in that price range period. My last pair has lasted me about 6 years.

I don't know anything about Skullcandy's durability, but a few weeks ago I bought a pair of Titans just to give them a try and IMHO they SUCK. I tried all the different pads they came with AND the ones that I have on my Sonys and I couldn't get any of them to fit in my ears (could be a personal problem). Anyway...I was very disappointed. I really like my Sonys. They are like this

^^Agree w/ Nick. My full metal jackets and smokin' buds sound great for what I paid for them on SAC. I have never been impressed w/ Sony headphones.

No question fit has a lot to do with sound quality. If you can't get a good seal with in-the-ear buds you're not going to get the full bass response out them.

I couldn't get the Skulls to fit, so they just don't sound (to me anyway) as good as my Sonys...

Skullcandys are great if you like bass and nothing else. Every pair in their line sounds muddy and dull. Once you've spent some time with an actual high quality headphone, you won't be able to deal with them.

Sennheiser is a good brand, they have decent cans at every price range. For my money, though, Audio-Technica and AKG are the absolute best, though Denon is right up there, I just don't own a pair. Grado is nice, but overpriced, and mostly suited for rock. AKGs are precise and balanced, Audio-Technicas are fun, without being muddy.

The best $50ish phones I've had are a set of Denon in-ears that almost every Target I've been in sells. They come with a ton of fittings, and sound awesome.

Other good (more expensive) in-ears: Shure, Etymotic, Ultimate Ears, and Westone.

I've tried Philips, Sony, and Vmoda models, all of which had decent reviews and they all pretty much such. I am really tempted to try these, but I need to be able to return them if they aren't up to par. It is really difficult finding earbuds that have good all around sound and stay in your ears.

Oddly enough, Best Buy, Target, and Radioshack have all let me return earbuds. They just don't have a big enough selection. I did listen to some Monster earphones though and those were killer.

Skullcandy work pretty well, but other than their buds, they are not the most durable. I think they know that, and that is why they have an awesome warranty. Just send them back and they'll fix it(if possible) or ship out a new pair.

If you are looking for high end, or studio quality headphone to wear when commuting or for a home theatre or what not, Sony is definitely the way to go. There's a reason almost every legit recording studio uses them.

Ok, I gave my Vmoda Bass Freq another chance when I went home. I changed out the fittings and got a better seal with my ears. Jamming them in further dramatically increased the bass (now more than my over the ear Sony headphone).They actually bang pretty damn good for 30 bucks. I still have doubts about their durability but they sound good.

V-modas are surprisingly good. I had a pair of Bass.freqs I'd use Sunday mornings to do extensive bar cleaning. I completely submerged them in water a whole bunch of times, and got them hung on a bunch of stuff, ripped them out of my ears, and probably stepped on them, and they kept on kicking.

Then they fell out of my pack on an airplane...
