Two different places, H+H in Arlington on Mass Ave (MA). If I remember it's before a block or two before Blue Ribbon BBQ.

Another place in Leesburg, VA that baked H&H bagels. Don't think it's around anymore though.

Most of the things written here are just heresy. I understand why some of you like the crap you write about; you've never had a good bagel and the nasty dough with the hole in it that they pass off to you as a bagel needs serious help. Blueberry? Gross. Peanut Butter? Nope. Asiago? Something I only eat in airports when there is a dearth of choices.

a good helping of sliced lox (the good stuff)
a few super thin slices of red onion

That's my favorite, but there is a bagel for every mood and whim. A nice (FRESH) scallion cream chesse (old scallions taste like soap). The guy behind the counter who puts on just the right amount of butter. If a bagel needs toasting, just the right level of browning on the inside only. Sometimes you want an egg, sometimes sesame seed, other times only an 'everything' will do. Other times you'd prefer a bialy, but that's for another thread.

Poppy seed bagel with cream cheese. That's it. My grandfather used to go shopping for bagels, kaiser rolls, horns, challah and rye bread for all his children's families every sunday morning--he'd just leave the bag outside the door. He died while I was in high school. After freshman year in college I came home, got together with my HS friends and came home 7AM Sunday morning still tripping my ass off and my mom wanted me to go out for bagels. I managed to get out of it fortunately. A Jewish bakery on a Sunday morning tripping would have been way too weird.
