Very nice. How many shots did you use for the first one/ how long of a period were you shooting for?
Talking shit about a pretty sunset.

I've always wanted to see a timelapse of a pow field turning into bumps...you know, if you're looking for inspiration.

Sweet idea, but you'd have to hire some punk to sit there and tend the camera whilst you did all the skiing yourself.

It's all about contrast and light on dark

Yetiman has a great idea although I bet it's been done. If it hasn't then it should

That was very cool. The longer exposure needed added a nice effect to the cars.

What was the total time lapse duration?

15 second exposures, 20 second intervals, 267 frames... just over an hour.

Gonna try another tonight with (hopefully) lake effect bands.

My next project as far as TL is concerned has to do with a pow field becoming tracked. Just gotta find some grom that wants to make 20 bucks for an hour of standing around

You could do it for 10 bucks and half the time at Alta.

Your second SLC Night Lapse is awesome. I love the clouds and the movement of lights. Does the D300 have a built in intervalometer?

I just found out my D200 does, so I can't imagine the D300 wouldn't as well.

What software is used to convert all the individual jpegs to a movie?

    Yes on the D300 intervalometer.

I used Quicktime Pro ($30) because I use a mac and it just takes a couple of clicks to make a movie. I am actually going to try and work it into my Automator flow too.

Here are a couple of sunset time lapses I did earlier this week. Still learning...

This is the first one I did. Got to the overlook too late to capture the sun going down then screwed up the first half of the sequence, which is too bad as the sky is much more interesting in this one than the second.

Here's the second one from the next night. Got there early enough to capture the sun going down and didn't have any other mishaps, but the sky wasn't nearly as interesting. At least the boats scurrying around like insects are kind of amusing.

Man, I tried posting these on Youtube and they look like total ass on there. Youtube sucks...

Dave Mossop from Rocky Mountain Sherpas (did The Fine Line avy movie) is a fucking master of time lapse. The Sherps filmed the Salomon Freeski TV segment posted recently from the Volcano in Chile. Here's a montage of timelapse from it:

This one is good too (although, I have to point out the harbor tide lapse is from Haines, AK, USA as well as the Tom Burt shred shots AND the heli-drop on the knife edge ridge is from outside of Juneau, AK. Mossop lost a Canon Body and probably lens to the first attempt and unexpectedly high tide change overnight in the Haines Harbor):
