Old Pink Floyd Instrumental

They told me that that too much of that shit would ruin my mind and I guess they were right.

Help an old guy remember the title to an early Floyd instrumental that had the garbled line "what is this" buried in the middle. I'm way too unsophisticated with regard to music to give a good description of the tune. The best words I can think of are soaring in part and stacato in others.

It's not much to work with but it's driving me nuts. It was pretty popular in the early 70's (air play on WBCN etc.)

That's mid-period Floyd. Old Floyd would be Interstellar Overdrive.

1971 seems early to me, but I get what you mean in terms of musical phases.
