his saucer boy antics at squaw valley ending w/ him (a dummy) being tossed out of the tram always had me laughing.
he brought a sense of humor to skiing that i never had seen before. and, he could back it up w/ his skills; both airborne and on the snow.
gonna have 2 crank up the VCR and play those "old-school" video tapes 2nite.
Shane, u will be missed, but not forgotten.

This breaks my heart. Shane made people love skiing. He made people love life. He changed all of us, even if we didn't know him personally. He was a man who lived life large, and those who loved him knew that and embraced him wholeheartedly.
My thoughts go out to Shane's wife, his daughter, the rest of his family and his wide world of friends. Peace be with you all.

Celebrating a true mentor to us all. He didn't take him self seriously, nailed countless crazy ass lines, changed our sport forever, made us all laugh. I'm sure he'd want smiles in his memory. Though I never knew him, I thought about him during several great turns today...

i would propose that quoting or even posting any more about mebeeyatch's opinions takes this thread in a direction that it doesn't need. Not that he isn't entitled to his opinion, i'll shout the loudest that he is, even if i don't agree with it, but this thread is just simply the wrong place. just 2 cents.

Never met the man but I'm very sad to hear of his passing ... he was a true hero in a world where hero's are hard to find.

I heard from a friend last night at around 11. He called me and said simply "Shane Died". I got off the phone and spent the rest of the evening in a state of relative disbelief. I had just mounted up a set of Volkl Chopsticks and would me making my first turn on reverse camber skis today.
I went out at around noon today and shredded the shit out of the New England slush on a set of skis that had no purpose being there, knowing the whole time that the only reason I looked like a goof to all the massholes, was because of Shane's reverse camber dream and the inovation he brought to the sport.
Shane, you WILL be missed and you DID revolutionize the sport in a way you will never understand. This shot of Beam is for you.[dk_ak] : they don't lke it when they see my lil dingy

Wow, I am so sorry for the family. I meet shane at SIA years ago. I was nobody in the crowd, but he made time to take pictures with us and talk with us like we were just as important as a sponsor that needed to talk with him.
