Thread: Binding Mount Paper Templates

Great idea for binding jongs to mount on a piece of wood first, as I totally fucked up my Guardians mount. Was blown away how bad I messed it up with no booze or weed in me. Anyways, was very careful after that and mounted them dead centered with no heel slop. I noticed the toe mount shows a sliver of light between the binding and ski. I am afraid I will strip the holes if I tighten it more. I did use waterproof glue on the holes, so I hope it is ok. Thanks for the template guys.

Just used the STH template for the first time and have used the other paper templates as well. Worked out fantastic as usual. I really appreciate all the reference material in this thread and on the forum! Thanks!

Also mounted some 914s for the first time on some powder boards. Went smooth, other than fucking up the brake bending. Used sone 916 brakes with a little plastic grinding on the bench.
Liv2ski, it's likely you didn't uni-bit (volcano) the holes first? Also bit depth is important with dense cores. Sorry to hear it man! Binding freedom inserts?

Picked up some of the new dukes, the template for the toe is dead on, the heelpiece is a bit longer than on the template. On the template in this thread the holes look like they're 70.5mm apart, on the template that came with them it looks more like 71mm (kind of on the light side, probably more like 70.8 or 70.9, hard to tell with my ruler). Haven't bought the skis yet so I won't be mounting them for awhile, let me know if you want me to scan them template or something.

That makes sense, it's such a minuscule amount. I mounted some old dukes a couple weeks ago and never noticed it. was probably just being over cautious because the epf template is unverified, thanks for the input!

I can def. modify the EPF template if there is a problem. All I did to create it is to widen the standard duke holes. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they tweaked things a tiny bit when they widened it. I have to ask - are you positive that you printed with the correct print scaling?

yup, I just triple checked the scaling, it's dead on. let me know if I can do any measurements for you, I'm mounting them tonight. it's only off by about a 1/2 mil so I'll just mark out the rear holes a hair further back

Add my name to the list of thanks- mounted my Coreupt Candide Pows last night with the help of Jondrum's Tyrolia template. Everything lined up great, I started driving myself crazy measuring everything 20x, this was the first time I drilled my own skis. Went skiing on them today and I didn't die, so I guess that means I did it right.

And just in case anyone missed it...
DOUBLE CHECK YOUR PRINT SCALING
Because my brand new skis now have two mounts on them.

Finally got my Binding Freedom inserts mounted. Huge thanks to Jon and a shout out for his great customer service. They are on top of it.

Still hoping that someone can provide a template for a PX12 demo binding.
If anyone has a jig, this is the instruction sheet that was included...

I just test mounted my 4frnt Deadbolt 18's on a 2x4 using the Tyrolia template and it worked perfectly. I'm just waiting on my new brakes and they'll be mounted on my New Life's. Thanks for this resource! Never paying to have it done again!

Putting the 2 sheets together:
Use a window and you can easily see the bsl and centerline marks, ensuring toe and heels are aligned. Note that the paper edges often don't match up. Blue painters tape works well too - it won't grab the paper until firmly pressed.
Finding centerline jig:
A small scrap of sheet good.
Put two dowels in and a hole for guiding marker. Make these in a triangle. Marker hole needs to be past midway of ski width. Less for large radius skis and more for small radius skis.
Center line marks are made towards tip and tail. Join the intersections with straight edge. Sharpie is good - easily removed with denatured alcohol.
Finished:

Just another thank you for the 5th mount I have done that came out as close to perfect as I can tell. These paper templates have likely saved me at least $200. Hope I meet you sometime jondrums, as the beers are on me

Just saw this. I am always very careful to trim the volcanos off my top sheets, when I drill the holes.. Odd thing I noticed when I took some bindings off some skis I sold, the holes had volcanos on them again. I guess from when I put the screws in??? I press down hard when tighten the screws, but I guess they still volcano a tad because I don't use a unibit.
