Pizza thread, 2009.
To fold, or not to fold?
This is very, very important in these trying times!
I say fold. But the slice must be worthy...at least from an 18" or above pie. Preferably from a 24" pie.
And has anyone seen the elusive 'double-fold' anyhwere besides in this great, great movie?

Never fold.
Folding makes it take less time to eat, thus making for less enjoyment overall. The whole human race is de evolving; it is due to birth control, smart people use birth control, and stupid people keep pooping out more stupid babies.

depends on toppings. Cheese, pepperoni, or minimal amounts of toppings, fold. If it is a monstrous fully loaded deep dish from heaven, no folding is necessary or possible.

As aforementioned, the fold is only appropriate at certain times, and one should adapt accordingly.

Always fold the 24"

If you can't properly fold it, then the pizza isn't worth eating and should be discarded in a humane manner.

If you can fold it, the crust sucks and you should shit on the floor in the middle of the pizza place.

But that is the KEY to a perfect crust...crispy, yet pliable, foldable, but not perferatable. It's the Zen Pizza balance.
And yes, minimal toppings, that's key.
New York slice, NOT Chi-town.
That's a different kind of pizza...more of a casserole on dough.
Excellent in it's own right, but we are tawkin' NYC stylee here, BIG slices, thin, crispy, sublime.Forum Cross Pollinator, gratuitously strident

it all depends on the style
new york, fold
or
chicago, not fold (i wanna see you try to fold that)
which sparks a debate in its own right
which pizza do you like better
chicago or new york
personaly i like new york
i like the thin ones, and since i really only like cheese and pepperoni im not one for a shit ton of toppings.yes its true you are a good woman, then again you may be the antichrist

Yesssss...my preference, anyway
Disclaimer: I don't know jack about pizza; born in the west, raised in the south and west, been in CO the last 18 years. I literally have eaten more Blackjack than any of you would ever admit. It's disgusting, I admit. I wish I knew good pizza.
Anyhoo, I've grown accustomed to and partial of thinly sliced pizza. Most of the time I use the curl method when eating, especially if the slices are wider. I love sausages with anise and a light coating of red sauce, not sloppy.Fresh. Mmm.
The "chicago style" here just doesn't cut it, no matter how you slice it. heh

Finally! A thread in the padded room worth reading (and drooling over).
I'm not a fan of the fold because I like my pizza too much to see it disappear twice as fast. I look very much forward to the next time I get to Chicago or NYC for some real damn good pizza.bc-lovah

Why would you fold a good piece of pizza?
These are from Pizzeria Bianco, widely regarded as the best pizza in the country, and it's in......Phoenix.
Folding is for eating mediocre slices when you're drunk.

Root, those are wood-fired 'artisanal' pizzas...different category.
If they weren't so yuppie-stingy, they would make those pies 22"...in which case, folding would be appropriate.
OK, let's move local...who does the best proper slice near you, (NOT in NYC or Chicago!)
I vote Wildlife Brewing in Victor.
But damn, there was some mobile slice wagon at the Jackson Hole Music Festival last year, I believe outta Bozeman, that did that shit RIGHT. HUGE slice, fold mandatory.Forum Cross Pollinator, gratuitously strident

Fold, don't fold, whatever. It's all a matter of context. But I do agree that on those two footers folding is pretty mandatory.
Of utmost importance though, just don't eat it with a fork.
The best pizza in Northern Nevada is Nu Yalk Pizza in Reno, and the best pizza in Northern California is prolly that one place in Downieville.

Everytime gyptian posts, I get dumber.
But beyond that, the best pizza in Missoula is Biga, bar none. Pretty damn good. Second is a tie between the Bridge and Snowbowl.

I'm about to cook up a Newman's frozen pizza for lunch. For pizza out of the freezer, Newman's is damn good.
