lookout pass - helmet cam + up down race
lookout pass is a small area on the MT/ID border. LP is closed tues-wed. a big storm rolled in last week and by the time the lifts open on thursday there was 27" of fresh and still snowing. this isn't the best footage of the day (timing, batteries, patience, etc.) but you get the idea. i had first tracks down chair 3 (north side) liftline. its usually a huge mogul field, but it had completely filled in. i wanted to film it, but i realized that i had left the camera batteries in the car.
this footage is skiers far left off the back side down to the snowmobile road.
on saturday North Idaho College sponsored an Up Down race. we had to skin up the front side (skiers left) and ski down through some gates. 2 laps. nothing too crazy. i completely spaced on my costume. i am #56 with full tilts, naxos, and ehps.
i was first in my skis.
but my lead was short lived.
very short lived.
start of lap 2.
to the finish.
the competitors
i finished 8th out of 18. i beat all women, children, and seniors!
first place got a sweet 2nd place chili cookoff trophy from 2005. maybe next year.
we then proceeded to drink 10 pitchers of big sky beer in the bar.Last edited by mtskier; 03-03-2009 at 03:58 PM.

If you would've worn a speed suit I bet you would've finished at least 7th.
Nice POV...did any from the next day turn out? Nice tunes, too. Never heard of the guy, bonin' up on Youtube right now.

Nice. Despite the fact that Lookout is tiny and flat, I've never skied there when there was less than 20" fresh, which is awesome. Especially since despite the small size, I can always get freshies all day long.
Job well done on beating the women and children.

Nice POV - the snow looks great
Before big games I shoot Rabies, it gives me the edge I need and it’s undetectable. Only idiot losers do steroids anymore...

Lookout was off the hook last Thursday. Too deep for most of it. Props on your timing on 3, I missed it by one rotation. It was remarkable snow and quite the feeding frenzy. It was done by noon except for the trees you filmed on Friday..... now Friday at Silver could have been just ill if not for chair 2 breaking which brought about a LONG delay in opening 4. There were still some good lines out of area though ...
The snow doesn't give a soft white damn whom it touches.

Mt. Skier, I was there thursday too. I had the tahoes. Think I talked to you in the lift line. Great footage. The run to the snowmobile trail was killer that day.
