Here is a Perrypalooza recap:
Incredible show from the standpoint of the talent that was on stage for a two hour show. It was amazing to see the original line up of Janes's for the first time in 18 years in such a small venue, 400 people. They played Ted, Whores and Stop and sounded great, likely due to the time they have been spending in the studio lately and the time getting ready for the summer tour. Perkins wailed on the drums, Navarro was picking up chicks in the audience, Eric A seemed to be really into it, Perry sounded great.
And it was the first time that Jane's was on the same stage as Porno for Pyros. The word before the show was that they were going to just play Pets and Tahitian Moon, though they opened up with Meija and then played Tahitian Moon.
As odd as it sounds Billy Idol was great, he was backed up by Matt Sorum, Stephen Perkins and Tom Morello.
Slash didn't show, though Debbie Harry did and killed it. She did Rapture with Morello and Sen Dog(Cypress Hill). It was a pretty bizarre lineup, but everyone killed it.....
A really amazing night of music. My photos were horrific, here's a good review and some photos: http://vegasblog.latimes.com/vegas/2...rage-pool.html
Some brief Porno at about 2:50 and some Jane's footage starting at about 3:30 in:
Here are a couple of my photos, best I could do with poor picture taking abilities and numerous white russians consumed:
Janes right before their set:
Billy Idol, Dave Navarro and Matt Sorum

Amazing show!!! Street Sweeper Social Club was the opener, Tom Morello and Boots Riley and some othe dudes. I heard a few of their songs prior to the show, they are pretty good. Nothing ground breaking, maybe somewhat like RATM, I'd see them on their own.
NIN was up next. I knew they would be good, but they were unbelieveable. It sounds like this will be their last tour, so it was cool to see them one more time. TR was bringing it, jumping into the crowd, knocking shit all over the place on the stage and his backing band was supertight. Setlist:
somewhat damaged
terrible lie
discipline
march of the pigs
piggy
metal
the becoming
echoplex
burn
gave up
the fragile
the day the world went away
the good soldier
survivalism
physical
the hand that feeds
head like a hole
in this twilight

Jane's Addiction was the closer. Though being one of my favorite bands it ended being a little anti-climatic as I saw them a few times in 90/91 and just a few weeks ago at a pretty small show. Plus the setlists for the tour so far haven't varied that much, granted they only have three albums of materials(they aren't playing anything off of Strays as EA didn't play on that album). Setlist, not in right order:
Three Days
Whores
1%
Mountain Song
Ted Just Admit It
Pigs In Zen
Ain't No Right(I think??)
Then She Did
Been Caught Stealing
Ocean Size
Encore:
Stop
Jane Says, acoustic, Perkins on the steel drums

GET IT, JOEY!
Man, I'm so jealous of all y'all. Sounds like most of you are in it for NIN, but I'd be all bonered up for Jane's. I'll never, ever forget the first time I saw them in high school: Three Days==>Then She Did==>Summertime Rolls--Blew. My. Fucking. Mind.
Perry is an unbelievable showman, Navaro is a freak, Avery makes the bassline into the absolute backbone of the song and I'll punch any one of you in the beak who doesn't acknowledge Stephen Perkins as the only man alive to ever rival Neil Pert for the title of Intergalactic Champion of the Ever Expanding Universe's Best Percussionist Overlord.
Top 3 concerts I've ever seen, and I'd like to think I've seen some shit in my day."All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring."

Jane's was great, Perry a showman as always. But, NIN -- whoa. That was truly amazing. Very different set list from Artie's show, except that Head like a Hole closed, too. No encores. No piggy.
NIN set list 5/20.

NIN has been mixing up their setlists big time. I got the impression from a TR interview that as this is their last tour, they wanted to play as many different songs as they could. He also mentioned the reason for them opening up for Jane's was that they would be touring with a pretty simple light show, as opposed to the past couple of tours.
Jane's Addiction is my favorite band of all time, and they were amazing as they were when I saw them a few times in 90/91, but NIN is unreal in their current formation. It's cool to see the original line up of Jane's crank out Mountain Song, etc, but NIN/TR are playing incredible sets of songs from 1989 and as current as The Slip from last year.

Went to the show in Mountain View. FKNA. NIN was so good and we had an encore with Hurt where everyone waved their lighters. Cheesy, but amazing and a great way to close.
Jane's was good but I was there for NIN.eating and sleeping is serious business

Yes, I was blown away after Head like a Hole but Hurt put it over the edge and left a really bitter sweet taste that I probably won't catch a performance like that ever again.

Seen NIN a couple times and they absolutely kill it live. Keep posting the JA reviews, trying to figure out if I can boondoogle to one of the shows as I'm not sure of the western Cdn gigs yet.

Fuckin awesome show last night. Jane's was good, but NIN killed it. He announced halfway through the show that this is the last tour and he wanted to squeeze as much shit in as possible and then continued to slay it.
Not a bad pit either for a bunch of old fuckers (like me).
edit: As others have posted Janes closed. A lot of people left after NIN but it was totally worth staying to see JA.Last edited by Trainwreck; 05-27-2009 at 08:39 AM.
