Quick update, guys. I did not get a chance to get out this weekend due to other shit going on. I can't make it out this coming weekend because I'll be on the road so I'm going to get it sent out to Burr tomorrow. I don't want to sit on it any longer so Burr gets to pop the cherry sotospeak. Burr, I'll get you the shipping info tomorrow. Let the games begin!!!

That thing was caught with a live ladyfish that one of us caught and baited up. The ladyfish was at least a foot long. It lasted maybe 5 seconds in the water before that goliath swept out from under the pier and inhaled it. We about shit our pants while my buddy fought that thing. I think he took out every fisherman on that side of the pier. It took about 10-15 min. to get it to the net.
I have never seen one that size in the daylight. Those things only come out at night.

No offense Burr but my vote is for HFB to fish it first, after his Dad, of course. We can adjust the timing.

No offense taken in any way. I'm just happy to be a destination for this sick pants adventure this rod is going to take. I wouldn't feel right catching the first fish.

If things would just open up a little here I could get on it after work, but mother nature is bending me over right now. I'll have it (and my dad) out this week after work trying to break this thing in properly. If we get the rain we're supposed to get it could mean a fresh push of fish. I appreciate the comments guys. I'm still on a mission to get this out this week, though.

The rod is NICE! I just got done fondling it.... In fact, I was poking and prodding HFB with it from a distance while he was attempting to talk to one of his suppliers on the phone.

This sounds like more fun than when I lost my virginity! If it all works out, the "rod" and I will be drifting the ditch west of Casper, WY. the weekend of May first. Anyone in the area is invited to stop by and have a cocktail/beer/etc, swap bs and what have you. Also, it looks like our third is bailing so if anyone is interested we are in need of someone who can cast into 30 mph and row in 40. Let me know, it WILL be a great time.
"Pffffft, Please."
Never, EVER, give them permission to enter your vehicle, the dogs are not coming.

Come hell or high water this rod is going to Burr on Monday. I've fished it several times now without a fish landed. It felt the headshakes of an angry spring steelhead yesterday, but the fish got the best of me and away it went. I apologize for being the hold up, but I'm working on it. Of course a trip report and pics will be posted when it's broken in properly.

Rod is shipping today to Burr. Sorry for holding it longer than expected, guys. Weather and fish finally cooperated.

Last piece of info. then I'll quit annoying you all. I thought it would be a nice idea to send a journal with the rod. I was hoping that I could find one that would be small enough to fit in along with the rod tube, but I just couldn't do it. So today I shipped out two packages. The rod is shipping in a pvc tube that I made up. Both ends have a threaded cap. One end says "open end" and the other says "sealed". If you can't figure out which end you should open you've had too much to drink. There's a rod case inside that tube. It cost me $6.85 to ship it via UPS Ground to Colorado from Michigan. The journal just went in whatever small box I could find here at work and cost me $5.15 and I know you can ship that for cheaper with a smaller package. I just thought it would be cool to read others stories and comments along the way. So for $12 we got it moving. Burr, heads up, it's coming your way.
