    You choose: Bottomless or Blower?

Three days ago the pow was deep--but, so heavy and wet that even on some of the steep slopes in Mineral many people got completely stuck and had to work themselves out and down the runs. I had my 130 shovels and still got nailed down on a couple of runs. But... it was bottomless. And, it was phenomenal on certain facings.

4Teef's post about today's pow was the other extreme: 15" of blower so fine it's as if you're just skiing through slightly dense air. With this type of snow, even though it's swirling all around you--feels and looks like amazing pow--it can ski like dust on crust and be, well, not so fun.

Obviously, the stand-out powder days are those rarest of rare days when the stars and planets align, the heavens open, and we get the combination of blower pow AND bottomless pleasure.

However, since it is more common to have conditions such as today and Tuesday, which would you rather have?

If you had to have one or t'other, would you rather experience bottomless, even if much of the time you feel like oatmeal might be easier to ski, or, would you rather ski through vapor, hitting more than a few of yesterday's bumps and occasionally losing an edge? Just wondering....

bottomless, wet high density 100%. what you see is what you get. game on to ski aggressive and fast, covering the steeps with consistency.

Quit skiing the 'Turd and you won't have that problem. Monday and Tuesday were bottomless and blower, why choose?

I skied some chest deep blower today. I'd say that's about as good as it gets. Had to be bery careful in the white room to avoid the pines.
I want a 6" travel 20lb MTB. I found the 20lb MTB, but only good for riders under 87 pounds.

wet at the bird three days ago? cemented in my brain are images from off of Gad 2 of sinking, sinking, sinking until the snow was up to my chest. deep and light everywhere with pockets of deepest-I've-ever-skied-in-my-life.

but, uhhh, yeah, snow is good, i like snow

If it's bottomless, you're not going to be "hitting yesterday's bumps," by definition...

    So I pick bottomless.

    Both?

No, I choose bottomless. Nothing like making a high speed white room exit via faceplant because you couldn't see that stump.

Bottomless. Its one of the few conditions where crashing is actually fun.

Wow; these are high times… sooo good to be here right now because, “this is the place” where these things can be decided. I never hit the Bird, but I skied Solitude or the BC everyday this week and everyday was good. It was even possible to sink waist deep with Lotus 138s.

More research is needed because I can’t decide… obviously, bottomless is good but the hardest whiplash inducing crashes can come from high-speed-barrel-roles when your mind says cream of wheat and the snow says oatmeal.
