SAAS-FEE and ZERMATT, A HONEYMOON TR.

****Update. We made it back 15 years later with a pair of skier kids.

Photo op in front of the dancing pony stable during our layover in Vienna

Stop touching other dudes junk, we're married now!

A small cool ass bar literally underground in some Vienna alley, love that schnitzel!

Day one in Saas Fee. Most of the tracks came from us

Headed back up in the gondi for more

PM GEAR publicity shot: Nuking in Saas Fee!

Visibility not so good, SNOW VERY GOOD!

Skied mostly mid-mountain due to crappy visibility on day 3

Tagged the Bull bar after a sick day.

Still coming down on way back to hotel

    A happy wife=..well you know

We've got a renegade going OB!(not so much)

A block away from our hotel. Stayed at Hotel Julen after advice from the collective. Thanks by the way.

    Our perspective of Italy

Following our trip to Italy. I told her to look out for that hole, no-one listens to turtle.

    Headed home.

A great honeymoon overall. Lots of good food and we were blessed with some fresh snow and untracked lines. Thanks for all the advice on these areas served up by the maggots.

I did the same basic trip 9 years ago. It didn't work out for us in the end, but the trip was awesome. And your right, NOBODY goes off piste, even when totally bomber.

Glad you had a great time. Did you make it to Elsie's?

Elsie's was a real good meal. Super cozy upstairs.

Congratulations and nice trip. We'll be in Saas Fee next week for our anniversary.

Anytime I think about Saas Fee, I can't get this damn song out of my head:

SAAS-FEE and ZERMATT, A HONEYMOON TR.

    bumpedy bump

We have decided to remain married 🤷🏻♂️and take the kids back to Sass Fee. We figure if we dont do it this(next) year.....

Definatley looking for any advice from the colective. We would not have had such a great trip back in 2009 if so many maggots hadn''t offered great advice on where to stay and what to do. We have focussed on Hotel Alpenperle so far. Seems like it could work as the price isnt crazy. We feel Saas Fee is much more our family vibe as opposed to the Disney vibe we got from Zermatt. The hotel we stayed in for our honeymoon is almost twice the price and doesnt even include nakid spa visits. Kids will be 10 and 14 by next year. Days we are targeting are feb 18-24ish 2024. Our one regret from the previous trip was that we did not do any guided touring. We would like to fix this as a family.

Any avice is greatly appricated. thanks

No advice for you, but good on ya for taking the kids back to where it all began, more or less.

    Have a great time.

Nice thread resurrection! By all means do it. We did it in Zermatt when our kids were a bit younger than yours, but it was a memorable trip. Any 3* or 3*S in Saas Fee will do the job. I think stayed at the Mistral once and it was nice, but very little memory of details. The one you mentioned looks very typical for a 3* Swiss hotel. There's isn't a whole lot of difference. Proximity to lifts is a consideration. We always went for 1/2 board, but you might like the option to go out and try different restaurants rather than staying put for dinner. We would send the kids to the grocery store every morning to buy lunch makings. Bread, apples, smelly cheese, and funny looking sausages were the staples + chocolate. A good experience for kids to go into a shop and deal with Swiss Francs and people speaking another language. Picnicked on the hill most days. I've been in Saas Fee with guides, but they were from other locations. Started the Haute Route there and spent a night there doing a circuit of the Monte Rosa. Your hotel or the tourist office can get you in touch with local guides for some off piste. Lucky you.

We ended up with 11 in our group. The first 4 day’s visibility was great and mostly bluebird. It figures the snow really started to fly the day before we left. We were able to get into some real fun terrain and find some fresh snow. Somehow I avoided a hangover all week, not for lack of trying.

Our hotel was a 10 minute walk to the lift. The hotel also had a locker across the street from the Alpin Express gondy. So choice popping on/off the boots 50 feet from the lift each day.
