I love the island and miss it VERRY much!
Lots of great skiing/snowboarding there you just have to know where to look. Lomus lake and a cupel of the higher peaks around lake cowichan look to be pretty good. and arrowsmith looks amazing as well.

PA offers some pretty good BC access about 2 hours total away from Vic (1.5 for the ferry, about .5 for the trip up to Hurricane Ridge)
