    $169 iPods

    Apple's got refurb'd 10Gb's on their site for $169. It's a steal.

here's a question--i know they say you can store files on an ipod, but can you also use it as a straight up external hard drive--say, get a 40gb one, use 15gb for music and have 25gb for imovie files, photos, documents etc?

    would this work?

Yes it works and it is very simple to do this.
A friend has all her music on her pod, and also a back up of her entire laptop hard drive.

Yep, if it allows USB then either 1.0 or 2.0 should work. Damn slow though...

USB 1.0 is so slow it wouldn't be worth it. I think you can get a card for a laptop or pc for around $50.

iPod works great as an external drive. You have the option to set it up that way when you install the software. If you plan to move files between mac and PC, set it up as a PC iPod.
When you plug it in to either mac or PC, it shows up as another drive on your machine.

I'm glad I cut up my visa card lastnight to avoid making spur of the moment purchases on things like this.

Don't you have to compleat an offer at the end, how do you do that for free?

You cancel the order after its done. Or if its the ebay one, bid a penny on something, or bid something you wont win.

sadly the ebay one is dead, but realrhapsody is decent, you sign up and it confirms after like 2 days, then you just download their program, and cancel it.

It seems pretty legit to me. Here's an article from the NY Sun. The referral system is actually super common in terms of generating income. Used all over the place.

If you're interested in doing it... I need one more referral to get my ipod. I highly recommend signing up for a new free e-mail exclusively for the ipod deal as they spam you like crazy.

Yeah, its legit. The only reason a bunch of people are delayed getting their ipods is because ecost.com is backordered, and thats who the freeipods.com people work through. I guess it will only be a week or two.

I signed up and just need 4 more people to refer to.

Just sign up for the credit card it's super easy and all you have to do is say you make 5,000 a year and are unemployed. No credit card to worry about.

I'm still skeptical. I wanna hear from someone that actually recieved an ipod in the mail.

edit: anyone bother to read the terms and conditions?

"FreeiPods.com is a free service and does not guarantee receipt of any product regardless of offers completed or points accumulated."

"In a case where a product is backordered, FreeiPods.com does not guarantee that it will ship within any period of time."
