The OFFICIAL 2009 EC Maggot Summit: Where?

Let's decide where we want this to be in a thread other than the EC roll call so it doesn't get too convoluted.

Seems like Magic is the front runner right now, but why not take a vote?

I didn't put MRG on there for the sake of the boarders. I guess that's fair.

Please nothing before February. I come home from honeymoon on the 1st. Then I will be introducing her as Mrs 2nd mate....shit, forgot, she is keeping her name. Would love Jay but I am down for anywhere that has snow, maggots and beer.

Of course I voted Bush for pass/Knowledge but would be up for Magic/Stowe. I feel Jay is too far north and can't puss-up-e-nuff to try Flatton. To best appease ULLR this should be next weekend 1-17/18.
Probably going to Metallica at the Garden 1-18 so Magic would be best.

I can't ski for the next 9 days. Painful.
Moving back to New Hampshire on the 17th... job-free & ready to ski for the rest of the season.

What dates are best for everyone else?
I assume Saturday is the best day... ?
Maybe Sat 2/7 or Sun 2/8??

The locale could be chosen a week or so before the date, depending on who has the best snow?

x-post from EC roll call, too many windows open, apologies

I like LH's terrorist summit idea. It'd be great to have 10+ at 3 mountains, especially 3 underappreciated places like Plattekill/Magic/Burke or Bolton/Cannon etc and etc. These places should be prime Mag country based on woods, cheap tickets.

There is no way I'm paying to ski Stowe or NH (until spring).

Magic gets my money based on convenience, the fact that they need stoke, and that we have to have an official MRG summit in February or March. If anyone wants to rock the Vertical challenge with me, please let me know.

    P.S.

Dear snowboarders - How is it possible that after all these years you can't even tele? Winter is long enough to learn all three. If any snowboarders want to reform from their evil ways, I will try to get some lift and lesson $50 coupons for mad river for the February summit. Or poach it. No excuses not to get there.

P.S.2. MANDATORY OFFICIAL MRG FEBRUARY OR MARCH SUMMIT

    edit:
Can we do 1/22ish or 2/15ish? I have a ton of work to do to catch up $$$wise after this trip so my weekends are mostly about working till march.

    Fairly central.
    Fairly Cheap
    Supposedly good terrain.

    Magic sounds good to me.

Can anyone hook us up with a group rate or tickets or lodging?

if enough people say they'll go i imagine that any of us could call and ask for a group rate, but i think there are also some people who work there. good idea.

I think a full weekend is in order, so some Saturday night Maggot drinking can ensue.

Magic is leading by a lot, but maybe we should let people vote until the end of this coming week then start thinking dates?

Magic Weekend group rate is $45/person if you have at least 15 people.

jtran... sounds good. Voting should go through next weekend or something.

I'm game for a separate day-gathering @ Jay, too (assuming this one is at Magic).

    Weekend Summit

This would allow Friday drinking also for early arrivals. Anyplace with a 1-2 day lifts lodging special would work.

I'll make sure maggots get a good rate at Magic. If we push it back to March I think it would be fun for the Maggots to enter the extreme challenge.

nothing supposed about Magic's terrain, the places is game on top to bottom if you know where to look. A few red and blackline laps with trees in between will make for tired and beer hungry mags by day's end. The base is simple and two chairs to the top from the one base ensures everyone being able to meet up at the bottom. Great bar and a vibe like no other mountain (of course I am partial to the place).

And I like Bluebird's idea of doing it on the black magic extreme challenge day. That way we can all watch each other huck their meat at mach speeds, which should make for some entertaining footage be it stomped landings or massive beaters.

Can barely read this thread on the work computer for some reason. Whatevers
I vote for Magic. Ms. Hutz and I would love to visit that place - esp. since my dad used to own a ski lodge in the area. When are we thinking dates wise?
I suppose it would be on a saturday - right?

If the EC summit is at Magic, I can offer housing to any and all maggots that are interested or are in need at my place in VT (about 10 mins away from Magic). It sleeps 12 in beds and many more with floor space. The only conditions are that all maggots are house broken and bring beer.

I am in for a Magic Summit. March 7 seems like a reasonable date considering the events...

    Saturday, March 07
    > Black Magic Extreme Challenge
When: Registration 10-12, Competition starts at 1pm.
What: Presented by Vermont Snow Wizards and Magic Mountain.

Competitors tackle the hardest trail at Magic to find out the best skier/rider on the mountain. Judging is based on degree of difficulty, style and speed.

First prize is a piece of the total entry fee and a season pass to Magic Mountain.

Competitors can register the day of the event or preregister at Vermont Snow Wizards.
    Where: Red Line
Cost: $60- includes lift tikcet ($25 for season pass holders)
