There's nothing wrong with that. I have a picture framed on my wall at home that a friend took out the window of a plane just like that.

Absolutely. One of the great scenes I saw was Mt. Everest poking out of a sea of clouds while flying to Asia around '96 or so. Only wish I had a camera with me at the time.

Thanks, I'd be lying if I said there was no fuzz influence on those at all...

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Thanks. The moon was setting and the wind didn't die down until I took this shot. I had to choose between better light on the left trees in earlier exposures and the reflection in this one. If I had to do it over again I'd have stopped down to 4 or 5.6 to get a sharper campfire. For some reason the forum chops off the edge of the fire. This looks better on flickr I think.

I've never used that Tokina, but I'm skeptical how much more sharpness you would have gotten out of that fire - it's off in the corner, 6 stops (? -wild guess) brighter than Mt. Hood, and significantly closer to the lens than your focus point. Stopping down you trade off for skinnier stars and blurrier smoke/haze due to the shutter time increase. Almost seems like trying to set up a GND might be a worthy effort.

My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.
